The Life of Levi Rupp: Part 5
Levi was finishing his shift and wanted to walk home, a chance to air out the struggles of his recent events from Silas, from the coach, and his emotional ties to Mila. “Levi, a word before you go.” It was Levi’s boss, either his schedule changed or he’s being fired due to recent budget cuts. Levi gave him a nod acknowledging him as he gathered his bag of clothes. It was a mobile office, so the space was confined, and his boss was sitting down, exhausted from the long night. “Sir.” “Ah, Levi. This won’t be long, I know you have school tomorrow so I’ll get to it.” Levi was silent, standing respectfully with his arms crossed in front of him. “Levi, I want you to take a vacation.” “A vacation?” “Yes, you always come into work, you work hard, and you never call out. You’re young and you have a lot on your plate. Take all of next week off.” “Thank you, but…” Levi’s manager raised his hand, cutting him off, “Levi, you’ll still get paid your hourly wage, but I want you to rest. Part of working is discovering balance. Now, go home and I’ll see you in a couple weeks.” Levi, smiling from the good news, thanked his boss and began his long walk home.
