A Different League
As I write this, both North East teams are in the footballing headlines here in the UK. Newcastle because they’ve just placed their Director of Football, Dan Ashworth, on gardening leave following his controversial announcement that he was interested in a move to Manchester United, and Sunderland because they have sacked their manager Michael Beale (below), after only 12 games in charge. Quite remarkably, his sacking means they have had 17 managers in 16 years. I read reports of both these stories in the morning paper, alongside an article by the brilliant sports journalist Daniel Storey which remarked, on the Ashworth story, that the excessive interest in a role such as his indicated how much football has changed in the last twenty years. The roles of directors, backroom staff etc are as important as the coaches and the players. Football is a multi-million pound business, and that, I suppose, was inevitable, but it has, or has certainly set out to, put a significant distance between true fans and their clubs.

There are things worse than wolves in those woods, trust me. When you hear their howl, run. Chief Ranger Talin’s warning echoed in her memory as Liv crawled on hands and knees through the undergrowth. Ahead of her, little Tivar crawled with the eagerness of a puppy. If her parents caught her out of bed and beyond the gates...That thought annoyed her even further. Her fourteenth harvest drew near, and yet they insisted on treating her like a child still.

Life On The Spectrum: Chapter 8
In one moment at the end of the camp I hated, I instantly became a more empathetic and caring person. I also began to realize that I was not “one of them,” that I was my own person. I learned to empathize with them but I knew that I had my own potential and that I needed to evolve into a much different person from the confused self-hating monster that I had become. And I wanted to do this without surrendering my essence from my childhood. I realized that I had had an Epiphany and vowed to move forward with a whole new outlook. The next few weeks went by with me recording drum and vocal tracks for my album with my Music Teacher on Guitar including a heartfelt version of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” testifying to how much I missed my family and friends. I spent a lot of the time on the computer for the next few weeks looking at pictures of the removal of the EPCOT Arm and Wand next to Spaceship Earth (told ya,) which was exciting.

Snow Humps, continued. Content Warning.
The last thing I remembered was trying to open my eyes and imagining the Buzzard pecking at me and tugging me while staring me down with his beady eyes. I slapped at him, trying to shoo him away, but he was persistent, yanking and pulling at me, lifting me out of the snow drift with his tremendous strength.
