Businesswoman Chapter 77

Hotel Mercier

By Skyler SaundersPublished 11 months ago 1 min read

Lisa twisted her hair around her finger. She looked at the problem on the screen and tapped. Correct answer. She submitted it and proceeded to tell Loreen about it.

“Hey, girl!” Loreen shouted with sincere excitement.

“I just sent it in now,” Lisa breathed.

“You’re going to do fine. Hell, I should be working on a doctorate in one of my degrees,” Loreen admitted.

“I thank you for believing in me,” Lisa replied.

“It’s nothing. Now, you go get that certificate that says you’re a bachelor. Just look at what you’ve done already. All of your businesses continue to flourish and thrive. That’s a clear result of your steadfastness,” Loreen complimented.

Lisa sat at her desk in her apartment. The room looked as sharp as a blade’s edge. The joy she expressed at having the opportunity to tell Loreen about her education boosted her mood. When she felt anxiety, it melted away while talking to her mentor. On the other end, Loreen peered at her smart watch.

“Did you want to enjoy some vanilla almond cookies and coffee at Mercier’s?”

“Sure, I just have to get dressed.”

“I’ll have Raphael pick you up when you’re ready.”

The two women sat for cappuccino and cookies.

“I’m glad we’re doing this. Just us right now. The world needs saving, but it won’t be done by us right now,” Lisa observed.

“We’ve saved our worlds. That’s the beauty. As a result of our work, we’ve been able to mollify the raging forces within and without us. That’s what makes this special.”

The lighting in the restaurant section of the Hotel Mercier provided ample space and just enough light to see with whom your were seated.

“Let’s savor this moment while we can. I’m sure a mayor or police commissioner will be calling us.”
