The water spurted up from the source.
“It’s one of the last known natural springs in Delaware,” Colby Roderickson beamed. “And it’s mine.” Entrepreneur Paul grinned.
“I plan to keep the plastic bottles despite the recent regulations against plastic products,”
Roderickson explained further. He wore a blue shirt and khakis. In his mid-fifties, he had the air of a twenty-year-old startup CEO. He had been in the business of finance for close to thirty years. His brown skin and fresh haircut showed a man of pride and distinction in his outward appearance, contrasting Entrepreneur Paul’s jacket with the sleeves cut and denim jeans.
“You see this…we’re going to revolutionize the game….This spring water will be converted into currency.”
Entrepreneur’s eyebrows lifted as he knew where Roderickson wanted to go with this.
“We’re not just slapping a label that says the bottle is worth a few cents, we’re going to make them into artworks.”
“You’ll corner the market on art-inspired bottles via your app.”
“That’s why they call you ‘Entrepreneur Paul.’ You see it! These bottles will go for thousands of dollars a pop. We’ll retain a percentage of the profits and give the rest to the artist.”
“One problem—how will the person who collects the bottles get paid?”
“They’ll get their cut with proof of purchase and scanning a QR code.” Entrepreneur Paul nodded his head in agreement.
“So this is supposed to launch when?” he asked Roderickson.
“Two years from today.”
“That’s not going to work.”
“Why not?” Roderickson asked.
“You’re going to have overhead that’s going to bankrupt you.”
“You don’t think I considered that? I’m surprised at you....”
“I’m just warning you that in two years it’s going to be a headache.”
“I thought you’d see the vision. Am I wrong about this?”
“Yes you are, actually.”
