One of Entrepreneur Paul’s favorites things was just another of his few indulgences. He used his money for projects and investments. He, however, always prized his collection of watches. Somewhere in the tens of millions, he gathered then all in a display case with reinforced glass and lasers to protect the precious pieces.
One morning, he woke up to find one of his watches not in the same place he had last remembered it. His search yielded little results. In his mind he had traced his steps and as his heartbeat quickened, he looked like a sleuth minus the magnifying glass.
With few options in who could have lifted the watch, he called old girlfriends. He called restaurants and hotels. His brain kicked into high gear to ensure that he would use the powers of reason and specifically the might of deduction and induction.
For the night before, he broke down all the events which transpired. This led him to the actions he took. A napkin on the lap, a quick sip of water, some bread on the table….His palm cupped his chin. A bottle of wine, two glasses, a clink. The watch twinkled in the light.
The bulb switched on in his mind. That’s it! He wore it last night at dinner and could not remember the time it rested on his wrist. He ventured from the bedroom to the kitchen. By opening and closing drawers, he discovered nothing.
The task of finding this specific timepiece pushed him to investigate further. He even looked in the oven. But that was after the bread box and the air fryer. Then, he remembered he came in late and wanted a snack. The watch hung loose from his latest ingénue. She had played rough. He found it in the refrigerator. He sighed.
