In the middle of the summer, Loreen listened about Santa Claus.
“These tariffs are going to upset Christmas,” Ferdinand Sanchez yelped. He owned Go Start Toy Co. He looked put together for his fifty-three years. Across his desk, Loreen sat in a plum business suit with a golden broach. She felt like her tongue was clued to her mouth. She wanted to hear him speak.
“Of course we’ll have the prices hiked up, that’s obvious. But because of this, the various places where the components of the products are put into them will not be able to meet with our standards."
Loreen clasped her finger tips together. Sanchez continued.
“We have Vietnam, Taiwan, Indonesia, Mexico, and Canada as contributors to our toy trains and electronic baby dolls. Whole shelves will remain full on Black Friday. I know it’s Christmas in July, but….”
“Let me stop you right there. We both have master’s degrees in finance from NSU. What you have to do is put it to use. It may seem like you won’t be able to have the power of Congress but you can implement business measures to counter the tariffs.”
“Take into account your bottom line and see if you can do everything that is legal to fight the tariffs. I will provide my services for a price.”
“Of course.”
“Five million and I go down to Washington and tell them why Go Start should be the example companies who will suffer.”
“Won’t that hurt us?”
“How? If you show yourself and take action by opening your mouth and saying that this company is great, you’ll have no problem.”
Sanchez hunched over but then brightened.
“That’s right. We both learned about tariffs. I’ve gotta remember what was taught.”
“That is exactly what you need to do sir.” Loreen replied.
