The place still had fax machines and compact discs (CDs) from internet companies desperate to have their software downloaded. Loreen, Lisa, and Atkinson all stood before the technological disaster.
“Hi, I’m Rob Santelli. Great to finally meet you folks!”
“The pleasure is ours,” Loreen said with a wink and a soft, even tone.
“Now, as you can see, we still have box monitors, we’re running in a system as old as my eldest granddaughter…I know a million and a half is a cut from your usual prices.”
“You mean and million five each?” Atkinson queried.
“I was thinking about half a million each.”
“Respect the contract, sir,” Atkinson intoned.
“I am. It has you all listed as a collective.”
“We’re the Individualists, there must be some confusion….” Lisa interjected.
“Alright, we can bicker all day about wages. This man is of strong character. Let us help him in any way we can,” Loretta cut through the noise. “Please, Mr. Santelli, show us your ledger balances.”
“Sure! They’re all written by hand. I hope that’s not going to be a problem….”
Atkinson looked around and picked up his head.
“Alright,” Santelli brought down a pile that looked like scrolls from some distant century. The pages appeared to be bleeding. There was so much red ink the trio thought the redness would spill out onto the desk.
“We’ve been fighting against many technologies. We just can’t keep up. Your DoorEats and UberGrubs, we have a serious problem.” Atkinson peered around the space.
“Yes. What we can do is revolutionize all of the computing systems, convert the books to digital, and ensure that your pizza business is in better standing,” Atkinson said. “Trust, I’ve seen pitches that needed work, too.”
“If we do this, you finance. We need two million each,” Lisa expressed.
