African American Serial Killers Part 11
Over‐Represented Yet Under-acknowledged
One of the most infamous monsters in serial killer history, Mark Goudeau otherwise known as the Baseline Killer, silenced nine lives and violated many more. His name is related to the street where most of the attacks took place.
Without remorse, Goodeau brutalized mostly women with his brute force and ugly deeds. In the Phoenix metropolitan area, police searched for clues for over a year.
They found shell casings from a firearm that matched one used by Goodeau. His vicious nature led him to headshots that left horrific wounds on his victims.
Altogether, The judge sentenced Goodeau to nearly two thousand years behind bars as well as the death penalty for the nine counts of homicide he had waged against the citizenry.
It had been reported that Gooodeau had been doing his dirt at the same time as Baseline shooters which only complicated the search for him. With dozens of assaults and rapes attributed to him, he had sense thst he could get away with it.
Even with the police bungling the DNA evidence according to publications reported by sources in the area; even with a false testimony, Goodeau did not escape the clutches of the law.
When his wife came to his defense spouting that her husband sat in police custody, she didn’t count in other pieces of evidence like the casings all but confirmed that Goodeau had been the offender.
As one of the worst murderers in American history, Goodeau represents the modern serial rapist and killer. With this type of criminal on the severe decline thankfully due to increased technology and forensics, Goudeau is just an example of who has brought the attention to a dying scourge against the rights-respecting individuals in this nation.
What is probably the best aspect of this case is that Goodeau has not been referred to as a genius or criminal mastermind. There is no such thing. There are geniuses in the arts and sciences and business. Murderers and rapists are not thoughtful people. They do not calculate and negotiate the world using their minds.
The police and other law enforcement authorities show themselves to be the real thinkers. Goodeau and others should not be lumped into this category. He and others like him demonstrate just how malicious and wrong some people can become for whatever reason.
His inability to deal with reality led him to foster an alternate truth in his own mind which told him to commit these heinous crimes. He’s a loser who couldn’t keep up with the lawful individuals who prized human lives and property.
Goodeau must sit on death row, waiting to be snuffed out by the government. He is an ogre who couldn’t understand that every life he took or violated should have been respected. What he brought to the fore remained a man of color who failed miserably at life. Goodeau shows that his whole operation in trying to inflict harm and death on others has led him to this low place.
With his unselfishness, he has demonstrated that he is a cancerous strain that deserves capital punishment. For Arizona to maintain the death penalty, there is a window into the opportunity for this monster to experience a humane and ordered way of dying. Unlike the slayings in which he involved himself, he will be in a controlled environment. He will be subjected to three chemicals, among them a sedative.
He did not have the decency to leave these people alone. Instead, he chose to lower himself to the level of an animal. That has affected and impacted not just the Phoenix, Arizona area but places outside Baseline Road. Despite his moniker, it is important to remember that he did not commit all of his horrors on this road. It is, however, a place which marked one of the last places for his evil outside of the wall.
