A Forgotten Dream II

Chapter Two

By Karan w. Published 11 months ago 2 min read

Lucy was watching her friend Kezia a little further down the street, hiding behind a wall. As she always did, every time she saw Kezia pass by the canal, Kezia was sinking into deep sadness and her behavior was also becoming strange. So Lucy was afraid that her dear friend might throw herself into the flowing canal.

So she stood behind the wall and kept watching Kezia until she crossed the canal and went ahead. Then Lucy took a deep breath and returned to her house smiling, a smile always came on her face when she thought about Kezia. The thought of losing her only friend scared her.

Kezia went home lost in her sadness, but there was no reason to stay at home, so she spent most of her time in the garden located in the backyard of the house. She keeps talking to herself because nothing around her excites her. Nature seems to be a world of wonders to her, where everything is beautiful.

Hence, the person she is most emotionally attached to, apart from her mother, is nature full of wonders. Her father, who spends most of his time busy with work, talks to her very little because Kezia's talks seem to bother him.

Today, time also passed in the same stagnant manner as every other day. Without any change, just with an emptiness. Kezia told her father, "I am going to Lucy's house." Her father continued tapping his fingers on the keyboard and said, "Ok, dear, take care of yourself and be back before it gets dark.

Kezia started walking straight towards Lucy's house but suddenly a strange stir arose in her heart, without thinking, she ran back to her house very fast. She went straight to the kitchen and said, "Mom, can I help you make dinner today?" But there was no one in the kitchen, except for a silence. The light of the sun was filtering in from the window. Kezia blinked slowly in surprise, she did not see anyone there. Her mother could not be there at all. She became very sad, she felt that her mother was preparing dinner in the kitchen and she should help her. But her mother, whom she had never met till now, lives in a fairyland, and fairies are always happy. She wanted to complete this incomplete part of her life.

Life is a small piece of possibilities, anything can happen here at any time. So, her meeting with her mother, who lives in a fairyland,, was also possible. And burdened by this possibility, Kezia was unable to balance between her real life and her world of imagination. Today, she did not go to Lucy's house to play; she had done it many times. She had told Lucy that she would come but she was not able to go. So Lucy used to come to her house every time to see if she was okay. Even today, Kezia was waiting for Lucy; she was completely confident that she would come.

'"Mom, can I help you make dinner today?" ' This is a brilliant line to write and the way in which you used it, worked. You are working the inner turmoil nicely

It’s so sad that Kezias father is too busy to have conversations with her. Their friendship is so heartwarming. Lucy and kezia. I hope Lucy doesn’t feel bad that kezia never seem to take the initiative to go to her house… This is still a lovely story and amazing attention to the emotions of the characters. I definitely got the feeling that kezia was struggling to separate her imagination from reality. 👌🏽👏🏽🤗♥️

This was such a beautifully written chapter! The way Kezia’s emotions and inner struggles are portrayed is so touching. Her connection to nature and the contrast between her reality and imagination make her character so intriguing. And Lucy’s silent concern for her friend adds such a heartfelt touch. Read the next chapter already..lol

I feel sad for Kezia... Being lost in a world of reality and imagination must be hard for her. Losing a mother and never getting a chance to meet? Total devastation. I pray for every single child a childhood full of beautiful memories with parents. Even tho there wasn't something so exciting about the story, I loved the imagery you created between 2 worlds 🤝🙌 Lucy is a friend everyone needs in life. Kezia? It's a name for real, or you created it? Plus the 1st image is super mesmerizing; I can't take my eyes off 💖
