A Forgotten Dream

Chapter One

By Karan w. Published 12 months ago 2 min read

I can never see some things, because my heart is afraid to go into the darkness. Lucy! Why doesn't everything become quiet here so that I don't get lost in those voices? I can hear the loneliness inside me.

Kezia, why do you want loneliness? Why do you always say such things which are difficult to understand?

Everyone here wants to say something or the other, Lucy!, but no one wants to listen. It's hard to believe, that one day there can be peace here. But the day everything becomes quiet here, I will hear my mother's call clearly. The call that I have always wanted to hear, I have always been searching for her. Lucy! I have not even seen my mother's face yet, but I can feel her presence; those memories of hers, which we never shared, have become a part of my existence.

Your mother... Kezia, where is your mother? I pray to God that you meet your mother soon."

Lucy! Whenever I ask my father about my mother, he says she will come to meet me very soon. Your mother is a fairy, who lives far away in the fairyland, and fairies are always happy. My mother is still alive, my father says, but Lucy, it's hard to believe that she is a living fairy.

Kezia, then your mother must be watching you from the fairyland. She will definitely come to meet you one day. Don't be sad like this, dear I feel very bad about you.

Lucy! Why don't you understand., "Every attempt to peek beyond the veil of reality will pull you into such a whirlpool of imagination, where logic and consciousness start getting lost. The search there will shatter your inner peace and take you to the last threshold of madness.

Kezia, you talk very strangely, sometimes I do not understand at all what you want to say.
Kezia became silent. She looked at Lucy and smiled; now, she didn't want to say anything more.

Lucy now turned right into a narrow lane, from where her house was a little further. While going, she said to Kezia, "Will you come to my house to play this evening." Probably, I will definitely come. Kezia smiled and nodded." And both of them went their own ways. She was watching Lucy go; she smiled for a moment, and her eyes sparkled. She wanted to say something, but then she bowed her head and slowly crossed that lane with heavy steps and moved forward.

The sadness and emptiness that had entered the depths of her heart took away her smile; the sparkle in her eyes had disappeared somewhere. She lost all her creativity, she had made loneliness a means to satisfy her soul. The will to fulfill a dream makes a person lonely. She smiled, whenever she thought about her mother. At least when she was completely lost in the thoughts of her mother, then she had nothing to do with the real world outside. But the waves of loneliness rising inside her, silently drowned her soul in deep silence.

It's hard to believe, Mrs. Eliana that we will meet in this life. "She said smilingly to herself." And started walking towards her house

Such a beautifully emotional chapter! Kezia’s longing and loneliness are so deeply felt, and Lucy’s concern adds a touching warmth.

‘I can hear the loneliness inside me’ that’s it, I think I am going to cry and I’ve only just started reading. You’ve got a talent at evoking deep emotions, through your writing. ‘The search there will shatter your inner peace and take you to the last threshold of madness.’ (( I can see how this can be, I will not dare to seek it, myself. Losing creativity and made loneliness a means to satisfy her soul… wow, the depth that this story has is unmatched, and for it to be only part 1, you’re giving us enough to hook us for a long while. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽♥️🤗

Woah, this was vaguely deep and emotional 🤝 I feel bad for poor Kezia... Her mother? An everlasting emotional scar for her personality. Great story 🙌 Keep creating amazing pieces like these ❤

This is such a bittersweet and heartfelt piece. Kezia’s longing for her mother really tugs at the heartstrings, and the way she escapes into her thoughts makes her feel so real. The contrast between Lucy’s care and Kezia’s sadness is touching—it shows how differently people cope with loneliness. The imagery of her mother as a “living fairy” is so beautiful but also heartbreaking. You’ve captured that mix of hope and emptiness so well. It feels raw and personal, like something that stays with you after reading.
