We have to change ourselves by knowing ourselves

Efforts for internal change

By Afzal OthiPublished 11 months ago 13 min read

This is a very pleasant morning. It was winter, the weather was very cold and the morning had dawned very bright. We were sitting at the camp with the desire to hear some things from Baba Ji Noor Wale. When I mention Antere or Baba to you, it is very difficult to understand you because if I had said instead that one day we were sitting in the lawn of the Institute of Human Relations and our director Mr. Bakhshni was telling us something about the relatedness to the human race, it would have been easier for you to understand. The thing is that words also have their own world. First of all, words clearly have meanings, like Gul means flower or Ahan means iron or Bal Gabriel means Gabriel's wings. But along with the meanings of words, words also have their own personality. They also have a height, they also have a temperament, they also have bitterness and they also have compassion and their entire personality and all the training that they undergo, in their own way, has its own effect on the reader and listener. That is why the word "big camp" despite all its conditions and connotations does not come to our grasp because we have not seen it, we have not passed through it, it has never been ours. So we were sitting there and in our own way we were presenting some suggestions for the betterment and greatness of Pakistan, we were formulating some programs. There was Maulvi Musa of the Mystery, a very sharp and intelligent man, and Allah had given him such a mind that he would understand things very quickly and would present his opinion very quickly.

In the corner, our Dr. Ashraf Sahib was working as an almond oiler. You will not believe that the sick people at the camp were treated with oil. Diseases were treated by giving them food. Babaji believed that among all the foods that Allah Almighty has created, herbs, every herb, every food, every grain, every type of meat is useful for a particular disease. So the almond oil that comes out of the machine did not come out because he believed that if it comes out of the machine, it would be between two iron wheels. Some of the resist dew will be mixed with some iron and it will not be pure. So, there, the oil was extracted from the almonds by hand. Well, when I first heard this, I could not believe it. How could it be that a wrestler comes with carts of almonds and presses them like this and a stream comes out? This cannot happen. But when I went there, I found out that they peel the almonds, peel them and heat them to a certain temperature, then keep them in a tray and raise a part of the tray. Some of them start dripping from these heated straight almonds automatically and some are taken out later in the manner of kneading them and they come out almost as much as a machine would take out, but their color and aroma are certainly very good. I had a side conversation with you in the meantime. We made big programs in the opinions that were being presented there, such as when we all sit together, we express our concern about Pakistan and think. If this is done, it would be better if this is done, etc., Babaji kept listening to these things.

So on this Babaji said that there are only two ways to bring a person on the path. One way is to remove any defect, any mistake, any negative point. Politicians, rulers and the world all treat it in such a way that wherever there is a defect, they reach there to remove it. Whether they can remove it or not is now in the control of God. The work of the prophets' method is completely different. Babaji said that it is completely different from that. They do not try to remove whatever defect there is, but they change the inside of the people living there. When their inside changes, they automatically correct their mistake and remove their defect. But if you let them remain as they are and keep trying to remove their shortcomings, this process will continue forever and you will keep seeing that there is a big defect in you. If it is removed, then it is very important to correct the inside and the same thing happens there too. We were taught that no matter how you look on the outside, it is very important to be fine on the inside and until the inside is not fine, no machine will run properly. We had a friend. His father, Makhdoom Sahib, had a car. I don't know if he has it now or if it has ended. It was a great lesson. Makhdoom Sahib, a beautiful and good man, had cars after the Nawabs in all of Bahawalpur.

Our friend Rafiq was his son to him. He kept driving the car and after a while, when the appointed time came, the car refused to run. Now Makhdoom Sahib carefully, politely, and respectfully parked it on bricks under a roof. After some time, Makhdoom Sahib passed away and Fake thought that this was such a good car and its style and structure were very good, so it should be driven. So he kept trying. Wherever there are sensible people, they flatter the elder Sahib, etc. So he said, "Sir, do it in such a way that you change its color until it has a nice and new color on it." This will not be right in our homes too, often when women make improvements, the first thing they say is, change the drawing room, put the chairs here, if the body is moved here, then everything will be fine. Most people also say the same thing. They said, this is absolutely right. They removed all the paint and painted it blue. Then they started, but it did not start because blue does not do anything. There was a patwari there. He said, "The color of the curry saucer is not blue, it is steel gray. Usually it is black. So, if you paint it steel gray, it will be good. So, the steak was painted steel gray. It turned out that it worked. It will not work until the inside is fixed. This is our situation too. We are walking around with steel gray paint on top and thinking that all the problems will be solved. You must have seen that political parties come and go and everyone comes and goes on the big roads with good intentions, saying, "Sir, if we come, we will turn your body around." Well, they come and go. If they are, their method is the same. They do not have enough patience to follow the path of the prophets and convert people. If they cannot convert a small group, they say, "Come on, we will do this, we will build a road here, we will build a bridge."

You will fix this mess, you will clean it, you poor people, but it cannot be done because if a group of people who live in this place of deviation, until it is corrected, that place will not be corrected, whatever they want, they can do anything, and the person does not know when, how, why and why the deviation occurred within him. He keeps thinking that the whole environment around me is wrong, I have no fault of my own. He does not consider his own fault and puts all the responsibility on others and says this should be the case, that should be the case, the government should do this, they should do that. Why does the drug mafia exist? It should be abolished. Why does such and such a thing exist? It should be resolved. But if a person sits down and thinks and ponders in a meditative manner and tries to know and improve his self, then he will come to know that if the hook above my self traps this fish, then he will come to know that there are many shortcomings and shortcomings within me, which I will remove, like a baby. I had said, "If I fix myself, my environment will be fine, man does not believe. How can it be that I fix myself and everything around me will be fine? I had a very nice clock, old-fashioned, it belonged to my father. He had told his father about it in his childhood with great enthusiasm and had bought it after telling his grandfather. It was made of ebony wood and had a long pendant, which was a pendulum. It was from India. It was Roman, like the ones in the clocks at railway stations. It had a completely black needle and was installed. It looked very nice and beautiful in the house.

When it struck the bell, its sound could be heard far away. Suddenly, the clock, which was running well, stopped for a moment. I was very worried and worried. I opened it and shook its pendant, which was its pendulum. What does a man do? It started at seven o'clock. I shook it. It ran until half past eight and then it stopped. You must have had an experience. Then some wise man told me that if you turn the needles inside it, Then it will be fixed, so I started the pendulum too, I also tried the needles, it also started running, instead of running for an hour, it ran for two hours, now the movement of the needles made a difference, but then it stopped, so I took it off and tried again with great care and love, oh God, how will this be fixed? Then I took it to a very big clockmaker who is on Mar Road and showed him. He looked at it and said, Afzal Sahib, this is a very complicated clock and it is from an old time and its machinery is beyond our understanding. I cannot fix it. I am sorry. You should consider it as a historical object and make it a part of the museum. It will not work. If not, consider it as a rarity. I was very disappointed. And when he saw my sad face, he said, "Leave it, I will see it. Maybe it has some such ability and will tell me on its own. Otherwise, I do not have any paper, nor has my teacher taught me. I left it. The next day I went in the evening and it was attached to its wall and It was going smoothly, I was so happy, I said, "It's fine." He said, "Yes, yes." I said, "You won't stop now." He said, "No, no." I said, "You were saying it's complicated." Yes, it's a complicated system.

So I said, please tell me what his salary is and how much he paid. He said, "No money." I said, "Why are you saying that you have fixed such a complicated clock, but you are not taking any salary for it?" They said, "Look, I have not done anything. I opened it and saw that its grooves are covered with dust and dirt. I cleaned it and did nothing. I told you, I am a person who has a clear vision. A person can see his own shortcomings. Ashfaq Sahib was absolutely right. He can also tell you. But it depends on your will. Do you try to improve yourself or not? I am the oldest of you at this age. I have never wished that I should tell people to fix things. I have often said that. Now go and explain to me. But now there is little time left. Now we have become incapable of correcting ourselves. So when the divorce was finalized, I moved into my house and sat on the chair thinking that there was a lot of clutter inside me, and that's why I wasn't walking and kept stopping at places.

For a long time now, I have understood that you should talk to people nicely and I have been feeling that you cannot talk to me nicely. I get angry, my nature becomes very unstable and suddenly things change. When a person is determined that I have to go this way and that way, then Allah blesses him and then the person he is looking for knocks on his door one day at five in the morning. There is no need to search. If there is a greeting, then it happens. If not, then it is difficult. Then the person keeps looking for Afzal Sahib. Is there any good Baba? Because he has no intention right now. His only plan is to ask when the car leaves for Narowal. He will say, "Did you go?" He was asking in the same way about our return, which is called "Tilaaf-ul-Wujood." When you start reciting your existence and then you see that there is a strange drum, then you start to realize that we have never done it. We are always far away from our existence. You never let him come close. You sit alone with yourself and see him. Lock him in a cell for 15 minutes. You know, solitary confinement is the most terrible punishment. If you sit alone with yourself, many people will tell you the truth and stand in front of you. The man screams and runs away. This is the work of those with great intentions and gifts. By saying such things, I need to heal myself. I remember that when Napoleon the Great went to the grave of Frederick, he saw that his sword was swinging above Frederick's grave. A great light was falling on it. He ordered his general to take the sword down and put it in the Paris Museum for you to see.

So the sword was taken down and later, on Napoleon's order, it was placed in the Paris Museum. This is the sword of a great king. The general took down the sword and said, as we do, in a cheerful manner, that if I had such a historical sword, I would never part with it. Then Napoleon struck his sword hard and said, "Do I have my sword?" If not, then you have your sword. So, until you strike this sword and say with all your might that I and this sword are one, then you will not go anywhere else. So I was asking Aslam Sahib, who is our great poet and the newspaper Naveen is also his, Masha Allah, Ism Sahib. I personally think that we write letters to the editors and there are many complaints that we have piles of garbage lying around, no attention is being paid to it. The corporation people have never paid attention and although their elections have also been held, they are sitting there and doing nothing. This problem has arisen in our system here. The number of copies has increased a lot. Have you ever written such a letter to the editor in your opinion or in your memory? Dear Mr. Editor, Assalamu Alaikum, there have been piles of garbage lying around here for the last 10 weeks and they are continuously increasing. Please send some good and Send a suffering servant to change our hearts

And instead of the garbage collector, we should clean it ourselves. I think there is no secret in such a letter that we say with compassion that this problem will arise in our country. You should do it so that we send you such a person who will awaken the sleeping spirit within us and then we can stand on our own feet. Nothing is there. This is taking this exam, sitting in school, moving forward, keeping it clean. Now look, standing at the red light is a torture for us. Now we would like to write a letter to the editor of a newspaper. After today, someone please send such a person among us who will create this feeling within us and make it known that we have to stand at the red light. In this way, I would like to ask something as Babaji had said. What was the difference in the teachings of the prophets? When you have our shortcomings in front of you, you know, I know, but how is the effect of their teachings working? We, despite all our shortcomings, are When we live according to the command of the prophets, we never go to the bathroom and eat anything, even though a soldier is stationed there, nor is there any fear of the government or the risk of being issued a challan. When the summer fasts come, we die of thirst, we get exhausted, and our condition worsens.

We used to go to the bathroom and bathe three times, but there we enjoy ourselves and drink water. Who is watching? Who can stop us, but we don't drink. That is because the inside changes. But now, when the inside does not change and the surroundings change, the father says, when the surroundings continue to change, you will remain dependent on people. And your lives will not have that steadfastness and stability that is there. So I will tell them that from now on, we should write a letter or two to the editor in the same way. Yes, we should read a ritual that says, "Sir, we want to be well." As we were asking, how did an elder once see a man outside the grain market of Baghdad? The devil was sitting on a stone and crying. The elders were very surprised. They went near him and asked, "What is Iblis? You are crying." He said, "Yes, I am in a very bad situation." He said, "No, no, don't cry. You are the one who is ruining so many people's work. What will happen if you start crying?" He said, "Baba, what is my sorrow?" He said, "What is my sorrow?" He said, "Yes, my sorrow is that I want to be good and no one is going to leave me. If I don't, then this is the sorrow of all of us. We are trying hard. It is a great thing. We want to be good. We should try to be good. We should wish to become good. It makes a big difference. We keep talking and having conversations, but we never cry. Iblis was better than us. He really cried. He thought that I thought that now after this conversation, we will definitely try to get back to our own selves. Only to our own selves. We should get rid of the clutter that is stuck inside our clock.
