Right before the New Year ended, I felt that I had selected some of the best books for last. I focused on multiple genres this time around, reading thrillers, horror, sci - fi, with a little bit of romance sprinkled in. These books were the perfect way to end the year, and I enjoyed how bold each of these tales were.

5 Ways the Jurassic Park Novel is Different from the Movie
I had been wanting to read the novel to the Jurassic Park film for the longest time. It was definitely worth the wait, and it was one of the best sci - fi horror novels I have read in years. While I personally believe The Season of Passage by Christopher Pike is the best sci - fi novel ever written, I think Jurassic Park is a very close second.

I got the chance to read The Princss Bride, so I did
Like many people, I grew up with the movie. The quotable lines, the swashbuckling adventure, the perfect romance - it was all burned into my memory. "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya" became a cultural touchstone. "As you wish" was shorthand for true love. And "Inconceivable!" - well, we all know what that means. So when I spotted The Princess Bride at a bookstore, I grabbed it without hesitation, expecting a straightforward novelization of the story I already knew by heart.

Never has a book made me feel so seen
Everyone In This Room Will Someday Be Dead by Emily Austin 🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🤯 This truly felt like such a validating and comforting experience, which is so far from what was expected. It was like taking a trip into my mind from an outsider's perspective: so much of what happens in Gilda's mind is so eerily familiar I had to step and check that I was still listening to her thoughts and not my own.

Seven Husbands, One Life
🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵.🤯🤯🤯.💥 Good lord that woman knows how to write. This was possibly the singular exact work that could have reignited my love of reading after so many years. The work was intriguing, well written, romantic and classy, and somehow personal. Taylor weaved together a plot full of twists and surprises and rewards, but at the same time so balanced between indulgence and restraint.
