The Young Man Who Sold the Sky
When a boy turns into a man

People said the sky was free—until Javi learned how to sell it.
In the dusty town of Solmerra, where clouds almost ever came and hopes vanished as quickly as morning dew, Javi was born in a dilapidated tin-roof home. His mother washed clothes by hand for less than a dollar a day, while his father disappeared in the copper mines. However, Javi? He possessed eyes that never blinked at failure and a mind full of lightning. He used an old blender and broken bicycle pieces to construct a fan-powered buggy when he was seven years old. He connected a solar panel to a single lighting in their one-room house when he was ten years old. By the age of thirteen, he was obsessed with energy. The kind that not only powered lights but also powered lives.
Electricity was not affordable in his town. The government had long since forgotten about Solmerra, and the closest electrical grid was miles away. Javi then started gathering anything he could trade, steal, or salvage, including satellite dishes, old drone wings, and scraps. When he joined a national scientific competition with his creation—a micro wind turbine constructed completely of trash—that was the pivotal moment. He lost.
However, someone took notice.
The ingenuity of Javi's idea was spotted by a retired aerospace engineer in an internet video that went viral. Just to meet him, she took a plane to Solmerra herself. She gave him a scholarship for his future as well as for his education.
Years went by.
Javi received his degree from the nation's best engineering university. He founded a start-up that specialized in affordable renewable energy for underserved communities. With blueprints under his arm and a vow in his heart, he returned to Solmerra at the age of 25 wearing dusty jeans instead of a suit.
Every rooftop in Solmerra is now illuminated by sunlight and wind.
Additionally, he consistently responds in the same manner when asked how he produced it:
"To make a difference in the world, you do not have to own the sky. All you have to do is think that your dreams are yours alone.
