“Maybe the original sin was a man taking a woman for granted.”

― Megan Fox, Pretty Boys Are Poisonous: Poems

Let me start this off by saying, I have NEVER read a book of poetry that had me hooked like this. Hell, I have never even done a review of poetry before. But Megan Fox has me in such a chokehold and I felt like writing about it. Maybe it's because I loved mgk but wow, I see him in a different light now. I am so addicted to Megan's writing it's not even funny.

Her poetry book is a snag on Amazon Kindle for only $1.99 right now. And wow, when I say I was not disappointed, I mean it. I might eventually buy a hardcopy as a shelf trophy and to lend to friends because I had to read it twice to fully absorb the messages in her writing.

I wrote an album review on mgk's latest work so it's only fair we have two sides to a story in my mind. Wow. Is all I can say for now.

THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

“Heartbreaking…Go read the book, everyone.” —Alex Cooper, host of the Call Her Daddy podcast

Megan Fox showcases her wicked humor throughout a heartbreaking and dark collection of poetry. Over the course of more than seventy poems Fox chronicles all the ways in which we fit ourselves into the shape of the ones we love, even if it means losing ourselves in the process.

“These poems were written in an attempt to excise the illness that had taken root in me because of my silence. I’ve spent my entire life keeping the secrets of men, my body aches from carrying the weight of their sins. My freedom lives in these pages, and I hope that my words can inspire others to take back their happiness and their identity by using their voice to illuminate what’s been buried, but not forgotten, in the darkness,” says Fox.

Pretty Boys Are Poisonous marks the powerful debut from one of the most well-known women of our time. Turn the page, bite the apple, and sink your teeth into the most deliciously compelling and addictive books you’ll read all year.

Synopsis taken from Amazon.ca

Keep in mind, this book was published in 2023. And mgk's album was released just last month. A great deal of time has passed since they broke up.

Here is my album review on Lost Americana by mgk.

This book gave me a depth to Megan Fox that I never knew.

I think that's why I am so shocked over the whole shabang. She captured life as a modern woman especially in the world of fame and I am so proud of her for coming forward with her words. I'm addicted to her poetry.

I think my favourite poem in the book was this one, because mgk references it in a song.

When they ask you

who was your greatest love

don't whisper my name

scream it

and when they ask you

what is your biggest regret

don't write it in a song

cut yourself open

and write it in blood

- prove it, orpheus

page 129

He responds to her poem with a whole freaking song. He even added her as a co-writer to the song. I think that it is the most beautiful song he ever wrote and I have about fifty of his songs saved to my Spotify account.

Megan Fox and mgk have claimed to be each others twin flames and even have gone as far as drinking each other's blood prior to breaking up. I haven't found a credible source as to why they broke up, it's all just speculation at this point but it does seem like he valued other women more than he did her. I thought they made an odd but sweet couple. But she is so much more than just an actor to me now. She's an inspiration to me with how she writes.

All in all, it is a fantastic read. I highly recommend this book of poetry. grab the book and immerse yourself in the depths that is Megan Fox.

I’ve had mixed feelings about Megan Fox, especially when it comes to her relationships, but this book sounds like it adds so much depth to her. That one poem that you quoted already has me intrigued. I’ll have to add this to my long, growing list of TBR books. Thank you for the review.
