traditional dishes

One of the most iconic traditional dishes of the Pashtoon people is Chapli Kebab, known for its rich flavor and hearty preparation. Originating from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region of Pakistan and Afghanistan, this dish is a staple in Pashtoon cuisine and deeply connected to their cultural identity.
Chapli Kebab is a flat, round patty made from minced beef or mutton, mixed with spices like coriander, cumin, pomegranate seeds, green chilies, and onions. The combination of these ingredients gives the kebab a unique, tangy, and spicy taste. The Chapli kabab name come from " chaprikh " which mean flat which is also a pushto word. Traditionally, these kebabs are fried in oil or animal fat, which adds to their richness and flavor.
Chapli kebabs are typically served with naan (flatbread) and accompanied by yogurt or chutneys. This dish is a favorite at family gatherings, special occasions, and street food stalls across Pashtoon regions. Its simplicity, use of natural ingredients, and bold flavor make it a beloved part of Pashtoon culinary heritage, representing the earthy and robust nature of Pashtoon culture.
