Incredibooks: WitSec 1 & 2

A review of the first 2 books in the WitSec series by Ashley N Rostek

It’s not very often that I come across a great story that takes place in the confines of witness protection, but author Ashley N. Rostek managed to craft a whole four book series about the life of a young girl in witness protection in the form of her WitSec book series and let me tell you, it is definitely worth the reads.

So far I’ve made it through the first half of the series. The first book in the series is titled “Find Me” and the second book is called “Save Me”. The story is centered around a young girl named Shiloh who lives by herself in a witness protection program. The reason why she lives by herself is because her family including her mother, father and twin sister Shayla were brutally murdered by Shiloh’s stalker who was also her former teacher named Mr. X.

Shiloh who witness the brutal massacre managed to barely escape with her life. Unfortunately her brutal stalker Mr. X also managed to escape without a trace, prompting Shiloh’s uncle Logan, a veteran of special forces and the brother of Shiloh’s now deceased mother, puts Shiloh in witness protection with hopes to keep her safe until the villainy Mr. X is apprehended.

As Shiloh is relocated and begins her new life she starts off as a loner. Keeping to herself as she is still processing the greatest trauma that a person could ever endure. She deals with chronic nightmares that are flashbacks of the night her family was murdered and she gets up every morning before the break of dawn to go for a long run, which serves not only as a form of physical exercise, but mental health exercising as well. Her attempts at solidarity are instantly halted when she meets a group of four brothers named Creed, Colt, Keegan and Knox who is the oldest of the four.

The quartet instantly taking a liking to our girl Shiloh. They find her reserved resourcefulness very attractive among other things. Shiloh has also subconsciously taken a liking to the quartet, but it reluctant to get close to any of them because she doesn’t want to endanger them with her hidden past of which they don’t initially know anything about and she’s afraid that her emotional baggage will be too much to handle and that they will inevitably abandon her.

Living in this new hometown definitely proves to be its own turbulent obstacle course for Shiloh. In addition to looking over her shoulder out of paranoia of Mr. X, Shiloh also has to deal with the unsavory characters of her new residence such as a snobby group of popular girls who love to ridicule her unprovoked and persistent womanizers who won’t take no for an answer with near deadly consequences.

By the end of the second entry Shiloh is in a full blown reverse harem style relationship with the four brothers who have become infatuated with her. She tried to keep them all at a distance but their charm and genuine concern and care for her well-being was just to powerful to brush off no matter how hard she tried. The more she cares for the boys, the more she is afraid of losing them and putting them in danger.

I’m only through the first half of the series, but so far I find this to be a great story. Fair warning to sensitive readers, this story is definitely on the edgy side of sensuality. I really love how I personally could identify with the main character on a massive level. If you’re into a coming of age thriller with heavy intimacy and a lot of chills you’ll definitely want to get started on Ashley Rostek’s WitSec series.
