'Gender Issues Across the Life Span written, but rather edited by Barbara Rubin Wainrib was published by the Springer Publishing Company in 1992. This is an academic book that is divided up into sections that deal with how males and females across the life span see and learn about themselves. All the sections have several articles written by several different authors pertaining to the developmental life cycles from infants to adolescents to adults of all ages.

What I expected from this academic reference book were charts of what is expected at all these developmental levels. This book did give me many things and ideas to write about in learning more on how to be a good man that seems to be living in a women's world. This is a book to teach what it means to be understanding even to other men and women in this complex world we all live no matter our sexual egos and makeup.

There is no offensive or insensitive language used in this academic book in my opinion, but it is one from the late 20th century and it seems that some ideas do change over time. As mentioned this is an old textbook and should be used only as a backup and for historical notes if used for any research projects today. In reading or in writing in this field of human development there will always be some level of controversial material and ideas used. The theoretical information used at the time are supported, but as said there is new material now that we have entered the 21st century, but this textbook could be used to make comparisons between the centuries for there are some case studies of people used that could help us now to figure things out even just for ourselves.

The technical format of the book is that it is a thin little book that is easy to carry and will fit easily into any backpack or briefcase. It is also easy to read and well-structured for in follows an orderly progression from infant development through to the aging population. It is a good reference for teachers, social workers, and counselors in this field of study. The content is accurate for the decade that it is written, and it could still be useful even for comparisons and differential matters. There is no glossary, but the terms that are mentioned should be understood by the students and professionals that may use the book for supplemental purposes.

'The Energy Bus' 10 Rules to Fuel Your Life, Work, and Team with Positive Energy is written by John Gordon for it is a book that teaches us all how to me more positive with ourselves in many aspects of our lives. It is the story of guy named George, who is feeling 'lost' in his work and in the home and really everywhere else. It all starts our with having a flat tire and he has to ride the bus to work. This is a book that is interactive for all readers who need to increase their motivation to improve their life situations. The first activity is to follow the directions and answer these three questions- 1. My vision for my life (including my health) is... 2. My vision for my work, career, job is... 3. On pages 122-124 are five ways to instill 'love' in all of us: Make time for them; listen to them; recognize them; Serve them; bring out the best in them. It is also a book to show us how to get over our fears and have trust in what we do and figure out what our purpose in life and living is and will be. At the end of the story (book) there is 'The Energy Bus Action Plan' that gives the reader a chance to answer various questions for all the steps to increase our motivation in our lives. So to borrow a phrase 'Get on the Bus the Energy Bus!'
