Fire and Ice

Ice

Hi, my name is Bella. I'm 15 years old and I am the princess of Icelandia where everything is ice,well almost everything. There is another kingdom across the border that is all made up o`f fire,coal,and glass. Legend says that there was a war where thousands of soldiers were killed until there were only two left. Right then and there is when we made a treaty to never hurt each other again. Lately the fire kingdom has started sending their soldiers over to ask for food and refuge for some of their less fortunate citizens . But because of their fire it has caused many people’s houses to burn and turn to water. My father, king James, defied his court of councils as they recommended going to war with the fire kingdom. Although he thinks going to war is bad it seems like it may be something we have to do. Lately there have been more and more guards posted in front of the castle because of the fire kingdom. My mother told me today that the fire king and his son would be coming over. For years I have hated the fire kingdom because of everything they have done to my kingdom and my people and how ruthless they are. That was until I met Coal.

Coal

Hi, my name is Coal. I am the prince of the fire kingdom. I am 17 years old and as soon as I turn 18, I will become king but there’s a problem.Lately our kingdom has started to become colder and colder by the day because of the ice kingdoms overpopulation my fathers group of councils say that we are entering an ice age unless we are able to stop this our kingdom we turn to ash and or freeze . It is estimated that in the next 3 months the fire kingdom will be too cold to live in and we will have to flee. Yesterday my father went to the cold kingdom to ask for help, guidance ideas , anything that could help or resources. When he came back he seemed very distressed at a loss for words even . My mother rushed to his side desperately asking what was wrong . My father broke down crying, something I had never seen him do before. After what seemed like an eternity of silence he finally uttered a word he said “freeze”. I didn't understand until a few seconds later when the captain of the royal guard came bursting in and claimed that the Ice kingdoms top soldiers were moving towards the castle at a rapid pace. Then it got awfully quiet for a few seconds until out of nowhere we heard bangs coming from the castle doors BANG….BANG……BANG until the palace wall had fallen to the ground. Now looking back I think I could have handled the situation better but I ran. The fastest I had ever run before. I ran for my life not even thinking about my parents who I left in the palace with no one to help.

Bella

Today I was in the woods picking berries and fruits for dinner later today when I saw someone running the

fastest I’ve ever seen ,it’s like they were running for their life. Then out of nowhere there was a huge bang coming from the fire kingdom. I don’t know why but I dropped the berries I had just picked for dinner and just ran to where I saw that boy come from. I don't know why but I had a feeling he had something to do with this. After running for what seemed like forever I had finally caught up with them. I couldn’t see them but I could hear them crying. It broke my heart to listen to them just cry their heart out. I finally started walking out of the shadow to comfort them and ask who they were until I caught a glimpse of what seemed to be fire. Nonetheless I still went to comfort them upon reaching them and introducing myself. I found out his name was Cole. He said that he had run away from home because of the shock he was working and heard the boom so ran into the woods for protection. We sat and talked for a while and had the best conversation until it got dark. When I left I felt amazing it was as if me and Cole have known eachother for our entire lives. We decided to meet again tomorrow and we would tell each other more about ourselves and our families.

Cole

I just got back from having the most amazing time with Bella. I wish it didn’t end. I am so excited to see her again tomorrow. I think we will become the best of friends. I have never had a friend who was a part of Icelandia before. I should start walking back to the kingdom if I want to be back before it gets too dark. I started walking home and noticed that I have to walk through the Ice kingdom. I then remembered one of the rules my dad had just put in place he said that no one from the fire kingdom was to walk throught the is kingdom unless we have an emergency. I didn’t think much of it and tried my best to walk quietly and slowly so I wouldn’t wake anyone at first I didn’t realize why my dad had made the rule until I smelled something melting and the ground started to become wet.

Bella

After talking to Cole I had a quick walk in the woods so that I could try to collect more berries even though I couldn’t get any for dinner. Maybe they could be used as fruits for breakfast. As I finished getting all the berries I started walking to Icelandia. At the time I didn't realize how quickly that walk would turn into a run.
