Book Review: Good Bad Girl by Alice Feeney
A Frank's Fiction Book Review
Alice Feeney’s “Good Bad Girl” reignited my passion for reading, and I regret not picking it up sooner. The story of a kidnapped baby at a supermarket, and the subsequent intertwining lives of four women, kept me on the edge of my seat.
One of Feeney’s greatest skills is shrouding her characters in mystery, and similar to a Ferrero Rocher chocolate, the depth is delicious. Each character’s point of view was spectacular; one of the characters is OCD, and it was effortless to see through that character’s lens. I love being a detective (no strand of pink in my hair, though—book reference) when reading mystery and thriller novels, and figuring out the mystery was a blast. I finished this book in two days, reading it during breaks at work and during any downtime because I couldn’t get enough. I think I’ve developed a good eye for catching twists and red herrings, but one of the last made me audibly gasp.
If I had to give any critique, the mystery behind one character’s passing was slightly muddled. I think two characters in the book previously meeting could have been cut, in my opinion, it wasn’t necessary to the plot.
Overall, "Good Bad Girl" is an immaculate thriller, and Alice Feeney's writing style is truly captivating. Her ability to weave a complex and engaging narrative has made her an auto-buy author for me.
