Tattoos: Coping Mechanism?
Tattooing is something that has been going on for almost as long as humans have been on this earth. Yet for some reason, modern day society still considers them mainly taboo. Yes they are growing in popularity, especially with the younger generation however for many older people they are something to be looked down upon. What I don't think that many people realize is that tattoos can actually be a great way to cope and work through things when you struggle with mental health.

Stereotypical Tattoo?
There are a few tattoos that people would call the stereotypical tattoo; the tattoo that everyone one has. My first Tattoo, a lot of people might say is a stereotypical one. I’ll admit my first tattoo is not a unique one. A lot of people get a tattoo of the moon and stars, but just because a lot of people have the same kind of tattoo does not mean that they all look the same.

What This Tattoo Means to Me
Tattoos have always been a form of therapy to me. Tattoos are a form of art, therapy and show everything that makes you who you are. For me, this is all the same. My tattoos show who I am and what means the most to me. Even the tattoos that seem to mean nothing to you, they mean the absolute world to me.

Body Art And Beyond; An Exercise In Humanity
A VISUAL EXERCISE After viewing the amazing video portraying some stunning works of body art, I would like for you to take a few minutes and imagine that the entire world of art is gone. Like a wave of a magic wand, art has been completely wiped off the face of the planet. Museums and galleries are gone. There are no more paintings on walls just barren partitions dividing rooms. Statues and sculptures are missing from landmarks and there are no more murals within cities. Everything just seems empty without any personality. In addition, music, live theatre and films are a thing of the past. Any and all things embodying art are history. Body art is gone too. This includes: tattoos, piercings, cosmetics, and all alterations or modifications to the human body. Television, radio and books still exist but for informational purposes only. Cell phones also remain but solely for communication. Those cute little emoji’s that everyone loves to send family and love ones are no more! Take a few minutes and imagine your life now as the only remnants left of art are within your memory. Oh, before I forget, while all art is now extinct, there is something weird that has happened to you. You are completely tattooed and now have piercings adorning your nose, eyebrow and lip. Stay tuned because this is about to get interesting.

Tattoo. Tatau
When Captain Cook landed on the islands of Polynesia he saw tattooed men and women. Some members of his crew were so taken by them that they got tattoos themselves. Thus began the revolution of tattoos throughout Europe. The actual word tattoo derived from the Polynesian word Tatau.

At War with my Body
I was born into the body of a girl descended from German and English ancestors. In the 7th grade my best friend was a tall, lanky blonde named Jennifer that every pre-pubescent boy in our class wanted to kiss. I was the stereotypical chubby, but funny, side-kick friend who was always cracking jokes and getting straight A's. My mother used to tell me that I was never going to be a tall, slender woman when I came from a line of stocky, brick houses named Frieda and Helga.

A Simple Tattoo Can Go A Long Way
My life has not been the worst, but most certainly not the best. A lot of my issues seem to come from the lack of self confidence, but there are some things about myself that I have not felt insecure about at all where most people would.
