My Acne Journey that led me to MetroGel.
Admittedly most of my acne issues are my own fault but I found a routine that help me.

As a child I never really thought that acne was ever going to be a problem because my mom never had any issues and my dad for the most part didn't have any issues. I should have concentrated more on my dad though. He would have a weird breakout once or twice out of nowhere.
I didn't notice this because I was young but my dad had me when he was around 50 so for him to get acne at such an advanced age were clues to how well I was going to adapt when I reached my teenage years.
Those teenage years started off fine but by my second and third year in I was starting to get it bad. I didn't know what it was but I just assumed it was puberty because my younger brother also happened to have similar issues that I did.
During my university days it kind of waned off a bit because I would eat a little better and be more active but still I would continue to get some breakout moments. It didn't bother me too much because it was here and there but whenever I got acne it was bad and in awkward places like my nose and t-zone area of my face.
Then in my 20's I had enough. I believed myself to be an adult and my friends stopped getting acne as well and I didn't know what was wrong with me. During many late night TV sessions I watched an infomercial for Pro Active Solution. I decided to get it to see if it would work.
I used it for the first month and it seemed to be damaging my face by making it drier and the acne hurt worse. The support team at Pro Active assured me that this was a phase in the healing process and to continue with the program. Obviously it could have been a ploy to continue to buy their product since it was subscription based.
After using it for probably 2 months I started to see results. I was actually quite happy with the results for quite some time. I was using it everyday and it did wonders for my skin and my day to day confidence. As life passes you by things can't just be regular routine all the time. There were times when I would be taking trips and I forgot to use the solution or I forgot altogether.
My acne eventually came back and being off it for quite some time I would have to go through the process again in order to get skin back to what it was before. I didn't want to go through that month process again plus it was getting way too expensive, the process of using the solution was long and I couldn't afford it at the time.
Years go by and I started learning that my eating habits have a large part of why my skin is so bad. Dairy, sugars, fats and oily foods were main culprits to my acne. Not sleeping enough was also a main reason why I was getting adult acne. The thing is, I have to live too. I wasn't willing to lose the enjoyments in my life for acne as I was becoming more confident who I was as a person.
Still acne was always in the back of my mind and by the time. I didn't think much of it but just lived with the acne on my face. That is until when I was in my early 30s. I went to my doctors for a check up and my doctor had noticed my acne and asked if I wanted help with it. I replied to her that I had given up on it. Then she recommended a product called TactuPump. It was basically like Pro Active but with less process and at the fraction of the cost. I said heck yes, "Sign me up!"
I started using the product everyday just like Pro Active but instead of Pro Active with it's 3 solution system this is just one application of the problem areas. It was so much easier and the results came faster than Pro Active. I was in heaven and I was so thankful for my doctor's suggestion. The next few years I used the product religiously. I didn't want to fall under the same problems that I did with Pro Active.
The only problem was that I think my skin kind of got used to it and my acne started coming back when I was in my late 30s. My doctor mentioned it to me and I told her that I stopped taking the TactuPump because it didn't seem to be working anymore. It's a shame too because it worked for me for several years. I loved the product.
My doctor then suggested a product called MetroGel. She said that my acne was actually kind of small but it could actually be rosacea that was causing the huge redness and soreness that I was experiencing. I said why not. I'll use it. What's the worse that can happen?
So I started using this MetroGel and I only had to use it one time a day instead of 2 times like the TactuPump. The results is a more even skin tone throughout my face. I still have the acne but that's because of my unhealthy lifestyle. Admittingly I should sleep more and eat a lot healthier but you still have to live right?
For those that are looking to get better skin you really have to figure out your priorities in your life. There is definitely a way to get better skin but are you willing to go for it? It's sort of like losing weight. I know I can lose weight but am I willing to do the exercise and diet to do it? Instead we do have these Band-Aid solutions and I'm happy about them. They may not fix everything but they do allow us to live our lives a little more confidently. For that I am forever thankful.
