Beyoncé was recently photographed stepping out with her seven-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, but it wasn’t Queen Bee who generated all the buzz. It was Blue Ivy with the big hair! Since Blue Ivy’s 2012 entrance into the world, people have been criticizing her and from her name to her looks. The list of critics ranged from your everyday internet troll to celebrity status hater. Most of the criticism has been directed at her natural hair. Many described the child’s hair as unkempt, nappy, short, and an array of other negative adjectives, but don’t let the thought of internet trolls and washed up celebs talking about an innocent child’s hair get you all worked up. There were just as many people coming to Blue Ivy’s defense! There were some people who had enough common sense and knowledge about natural hair to realize there was nothing wrong with the child’s hair.

A year ago, I decided that I would do the “No Makeup Challenge.” I stumbled upon an article about this challenge and a few celebrities participating in this challenge. Instantly, I thought to myself that there was no way I could do that. I always wore makeup, under no circumstances would you ever find me in public not wearing any makeup. I used to spend over $100 a month getting new products and trying new things. Clearly, I was obsessed with putting on a full face every day even if I was just staying in. There was no way I wanted to try this.

Lip Balm Addict
I am obsessed with lip balm, I always have been. If you ask anyone who knows me, they will tell you that I won’t leave without lip balm. If I forget it or lose it, I will go to end of the earth to find one. I can’t go more than two hours without reapplying. I LOVE lip balm! Is it an obsession? YES! Is it healthy? Probably not, not so sure but it is a problem. Am I okay with this? Sure, I love it so much I don’t really care. I suffer from dry lips. If I don’t reapply constantly, my lips will start to crust, crack, and bleed. I was always told that it’s because I don’t drink enough water but trust me, I drink more than enough. I pee so much it’s annoying, literally.

My Curls
I have been trying to transition into leaving my hair natural; this means not putting any heat on my hair whatsoever. I have failed a couple of times and straightened my hair, gave into the idea that having straight hair is better because it’s easier to manage. There are many times that I wished I had straight hair; I straightened my hair every day my entire freshman and sophomore year in high school. Do I regret it? HELL YEAH!
