Yungblud Album Launch Newcastle - Fan Review
Yungblud electrified an intimate crowd at his album launch in Newcastle on Friday night, after having performed at the same venue three hours earlier.

One thousand fans amassed at the Boiler Shop in Newcastle City Centre for the cozy, but incredibly rowdy gig.
If there is one artist you should see this year, it is Yungblud. The genre-defying, Doncaster native is well into the northern leg of his home country album launch tour. With tickets selling for just £16, both events that day were sold out within minutes when they went on sale back in July.
People of all ages and all walks of life queued for hours outside the venue, all inviting and welcoming each other. “Because we are all here to see Yungblud, a musician we love, so we are bound to have other things in common.” A mother told her kin after being asked why she was talking to the strangers around her. It was a refreshing experience witnessing new friends and connections being made, and to hear stories of how they came to be here and how they related to Yungblud’s music.
Breaking into his set just after 9pm, with his single The Funeral, Dom’s energy was instantly contagious and the crowd went wild. Moving across the stage from left to right and engaging the audience, quickly he had them in the palm of his hand.
Playing an acoustic guitar for the majority of the gig, Tissues followed next on the setlist - the most recent single from his self-titled album, a juxtaposing happy/sad dance track that kept the energy of the crowd high.
He followed with Parents, one of his most popular songs to date from his album ‘Weird!’ which resulted in the largest response from a crowd from any gig I have personally witnessed.

Dom engaged the crowd in such a way that I have never seen with any performer, he made you feel like you were the only person in the room, taking the time to look fans in the eyes and perform to them. His humility is unmatched; by thanking the crowd repeatedly, you got the impression that this was a man who did not truly feel as though he deserved to be where he was. A rare commodity. The outpouring of gratitude in between tracks had fans in tears, his ability to make you feel loved, warm and safe was an impressive talent, and a once-in-a-lifetime, experience. (Unless you go to another Yungblud show.)
After playing hit after hit, trading badges with a young fan in the front row, generously cooling down the audience with the pints he had lined up behind him, and at one point, splitting the crowd down the middle to conduct them in leading a song, Yungblud ended his show with ‘Loner’ and leaving the audience on a massive high by saying “see you in half an hour.”
Fans ran out of the venue and back around to the entrance where his tour bus waited behind barriers. Fans waited for about 30 minutes and lit the street up with sound when Dom popped his head out of the second storey window of the venue and shouted “Am coming!”
Jumping up onto a box behind the barrier, Dom once again thanked the audience with immense conviction and followed by taking his time to sign autographs for those in the first few rows.
With his arena tour announced for next year, you felt honored to be a part of this smaller, more intimate event, and after witnessing it, it is easy to see how and why he has catapulted to fame.
A talented artist that truly and deeply loves and adores his fans, as much as they do him.
