From their unique fusion of styles to their unstoppable drive, the trio is redefining what it means to be an artist in 2025.

This summer, Netflix introduced viewers to a wave of musical hopefuls on Building The Band, hosted by Backstreet Boy AJ McLean. The twist? Their bandmates were chosen Love Is Blind-style, in private booths where the only things to go on were vocal talent and vibe-check conversations.

Bonds formed quickly, leading to six bands that received coaching from celebrity mentors, including Nicole Scherzinger, the late Liam Payne, and Kelly Rowland. The groups then competed for the top spot — and the prize: a cash award and music industry credibility.

I'm thrilled to present StarShine Magazine's August cover stars — the winners of Building The Band: 3Quency! The powerhouse trio, made up of Brianna Mazzola, Nori Royale, and Wennely Quezada, radiates instant chemistry, charm, undeniable talent, and commanding stage presence. They just might be the next big pop sensation.

Meet 3Quency

I caught up with 3Quency over Zoom to talk about life after the show, their unique style, and what’s next for the group.

How did you stay focused and motivated throughout the whole Building the Band experience?

Brianna: A lot of the focus came from knowing that we had the same goal. In the booths, we had so much alignment on everything we wanted out of a group — visually, creatively, sonically, roles — everything. It gelled so well that transitioning from the booths into performing and rehearsing, it was matched with drive and intentions. We really wanted to reinvent ourselves every week. We felt that would be what keeps us there till the end.

And your style! I know Netflix had a wardrobe person, but did you guys have a lot of input on what you wore?

Nori: We were really hands on and we already knew what we wanted just based off of the conversation in the booths. We were like, ‘okay, so you dress like that? You dress like that? Me too! I like to dress like that’. We didn't want to be put in the box. That’s why you guys have seen us in the baggy tuxedos and the fitted skirts. We wanted to switch it up. We wanted to wear heels every single performance. That was just something that we discussed amongst each other and were like, ‘okay, so what do we think? Are we thinking this? Are we thinking that?’ And we just all came to an agreement on it.

Now, the big question that I'm sure everyone's been asking you is: when we can we get some original music from you guys?

Brianna: It's a lot closer than people think. But it is still far enough away that we can't just give y'all the date just yet. We're putting all the pretty wrappings on things right now and getting them ready for everybody to see, but we've been working. A couple of months after the show, we signed with Johnny Wright and Helen Bromfield. So, we've been working out of the compound in Orlando. It's for anybody who knows the super boy bands of the 90s – they've all worked out of here, and we have some of their magic as well in the space.

Wennely: There's stuff coming though!

Nori: Follow us on Instagram @3QuencyOfficial. That will have all of the updates.

I wanted to talk about Brianna’s audio wave. It was your trademark, but I feel like it's become a group trademark. How do you feel about sharing that with Wennely and Nori?

Brianna: Obviously, I'm the only one who wears it. But the way that we made it makes sense for the group was through the name. So 3Quency – we're all our own sound wave, and together we make three frequencies together, but it's fun. I like drawing on my face and am glad the girls liked it because I wasn't willing to let it go. So, it was really going to be like, y'all, it’s me and the wave or I'm out.

Nori: When we first had seen her on stage during the “Levitating” performance, they didn't add it in there, but me and Winnie were like, what is that?!

Wennely: Oh my God! Then, in the final episode you can see we actually did it for the finals where I had the [soundwave] here on my arm and Nori had it on her thigh.

I’m sure it was so hard to keep everything under wraps before the show aired. What were your tricks and tips? Did you ever have those moments where you’ve said too much or anything like that?

Brianna: People asked where we went. I was literally like ‘I had to go away to film. It was for a movie. I can't talk about it yet. They had to make everybody sign NDAs. So, like, I can't talk about it, the title isn’t released.’ And I just I was lying.

Wennely: I was just very quiet. My family knows that I don't really give a lot of information when it comes to my career until it comes out. So, they’re like, ‘you were gone for a month! Were you mad at us? What's wrong?’ I'm like, ‘I'm fine. I was doing something for my career, and that was all I would say.’ They're like, ‘oh, okay, okay’. And then when it finally came out, they were like, ‘how could you keep that a secret for a year?’ And I’m like, ‘I just lied to you guys.’

Nori: I just said I was working, and I lowkey got caught up because obviously a lot of my friends and my close family members have my location. During filming, we couldn't have our phones, so once we finally got them back, I'm seeing all of these text messages. All of these calls are like, 'are you okay? Are you dead? Did somebody kidnap you and send you all the way to the UK?’ And I just responded like 'I'm working and there’s some big stuff coming and y’all will just have to wait on it.' Now they get to see it.

Brianna: Not only were we holding in that we were on it, but that we won! So, we had to lie through our teeth like our lives depended on it, because all it took for me to be like, ‘Oh yeah, I did a reality show.’ Everybody will be like, ‘Did you win?’

Wennely: Even when the show was out, I still got asked, ‘What's the end? Did you guys win? Just watch the show! Please! I have anxiety. Please don't ask me that.’

For all of your current fans and your future fans out there – because I know that there's a ton of fans that are going to be still coming your way – what would you like to say to them and what’s one thing that they should know about 3Quency?

Wennely: I would just say that we are incredibly grateful for all of the love that we've gotten from Brazil to Mexico to even the Dominican Republic. We just want to say thank you and that we appreciate all of the support. They're asking for our concert tickets already. It just means a lot to us that we have all of that support.

Nori: And to add that, we love y'all down. We've had some defenders in the chat. Know that's greatly appreciated on my part and on the girls’ part as well. We love the fan edits. Y'all are doing your thing. Know that we see it, know that we really do appreciate it, know that it does make our day, and that we do check.

Wennely: We try to respond to as many as we can. But there is a lot. So, if we don't get to yours, we see it and we love you.

Brianna: I think a good word to describe 3Quency for current and future fans would be: Loading… We're loading. We’ve got a lot of things coming. Also, the people who haven't maybe arrived yet are loading. They gotta find 3Quency first. So, I think loading is a good blanket term. We’ve got so much that we’re vaulting so for everybody currently like, ‘where's this? Where's that?’ It's here… Y'all just don't have it yet.
