The Wonderful Saw Doctors
Introduction I was first made aware of The Saw Doctors when my friend Mike O'Brien (CEO of Opencast and partner in Mog On The Tyne Cat Cafe) told me about the cover of the album "If This Is Rock And Roll, I Want My Old Job Back" which featured their dads on the front cover and the band on the back cover in identical poses. I was in Sunderland and bought a copy from Volume (another sadly missed record shop) and I completely loved it.

Passion Is No Ordinary Word - The Music Of Graham Parker
Introduction As often happens in these musical appreciation/playlist hybrid Vocal Stories I don't really remember when I first came across the music of Graham Parker. With The Rumour, he was part of the British pub rock movement that set the foundation for the punk explosion of 1977.

Indie Music Madness: A Seven-Song Playlist of January Jams | Philly Music Vocalizer

Throw in some jingly jangly instrumentation and we've got ourselves seven juicy jaunts for this January presentation.

Christmas is my favorite time of the year when it comes to music, and Brass music is certainly something that wins my heart at Christmas, especially when bands add upbeat rhythm, the sound of Christmas bells, trumpets, and trombones to the mix.

The Leningrad Cowboys
Introduction The Leningrad Cowboys Biography Site Today I started writing a piece that was fairly self-destroying and I thought this will be dark and depressing, and to be honest, I prefer being upbeat and positive. It was my friend Trisha’s birthday and I shared a video with her, which, in my opinion, is one of the most uplifting, maddest and impressive three minutes that I have ever seen on YouTube and it is from a DVD that I have from a concert that took place on 12 June 1993 on Senate Square in Helsinki, Finland which was attended by my friend Krista.

One Of Coventry’s Finest Sons Has Left Us
Introduction Terry Hall died aged 63 after a short illness, two years younger than me. I first came across Terry as lead singer with the multi cultural Two Tone ska band The Specials with their EP "Too Much Too Young", the title track being a superb social commentary for the time.
