Gurrrlz, we got this! We don't need no stinkin' man!
My dad was a high school band and choir teacher. He taught us to love music in all its forms. I grew up listening to everything! No genre was off limits. If it had melodies and harmonies that were interesting to the ear or even clever lyrics, it was celebrated in our house. To this day, my playlist consists of everything from bluegrass (Have you ever heard Nickel Creek???) to old school rap and hip hop (Dolla Dolla Bill, yall!)

Thank you, next...
Another year another day of...ew, no thanks. Admit it this is probably one of the most, if not THE most overrated holiday. There's tons of things you can do to try to avoid the love fest and make yourself feel better. There are many different kinds of therapies for people other than the general sit in the office and have someone listen to you complain and mope about your feelings. Personally music is a really good form of therapy because music speaks words that I could never say or think of. It helps get the feelings, emotions and thoughts of what I'm trying to say about a situation out.

Me, Myself and music
Here we go again The most happiest or dreadful time of the year: Valentine's Day! I still cannot believe how marketed this holiday has become in recent years and don't tell me that I am wrong. For a few weeks now, my social media platforms and even the grocery shops have been invaded with the hearts, the wines, the chocolates, the date ideas, the deals. And while in the past, old in love me would have gone through the roof with it, my bank account is happy it doesn't get drained with a new outfit or lots of gifts hehe.

Single And Not Ready to Mingle
Therapy, if taken seriously and to heart, is a bummer sometimes. One has to face certain truths about one’s self. I’d really like to be with someone right now, romantically, but I’m not in the best place. I need to sort some things out. Yay!!! Therapy gold star for me! I am now taking a bow in my living room. My first song on my Anti-Valentine’s Playlist is “Face to Face” by Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Love (Yourself)
Music is an amazing thing. It can help you deal with life by relating to the lyrics and provide an outlet for whatever you are going through. Music can actually change how you feel; uplift you, throw you down in the dumps, or even just give you something to cry about when you’re having a bad day.

The Break Up Playlist
Valentine's Day. If you're single, there is nary a day on the calendar that can make you feel more alone than this stupid holiday. You can make a case for New Years, but that's not what we're doing here. For those fresh out of a relationship, or for those still reeling from the effects of a break-up, Valentine's Day is a romantic sucker punch. I have spent many a Valentine's night eating Domino's, drinking wine, and watching "Bridget Jones's Diary" while rolled up in a blanket burrito avoiding social media until we were safely tucked into February 15. That's all fine and good, but we're better than that. And sometimes we need a reminder.

The broken playlist
Have you ever ended a relationship and were confused with how you felt about it? The most comparable feeling I could think of is taking off a weighted vest. There is a very obvious feeling that something that used to be there is not there anymore. Over time there will be waves of pain that set in that you need to power through, but the weight that was there put a strain on you as well. Not having it on is a relief, but as soon as that pain goes away, you're ready to put the vest on again. (Maybe a new heavier vest that doesn't mind when you work so many hours or cheats on you when you're out with clients)
