Prompting the feelings
I meditate daily. I have for years, but it's been even more important since the world changed in ways I never imagined. First, there's the stress and grief we're all feeling from the pandemic. Second, I'm going through personal heartbreak. Third, I miss, and cannot see my family, due to them being out of state, and I have a fractured right foot.

This is a Vibe
Music is powerful. Just one song can change your entire mood. Some days you're in the mood to rock out. Other days you want to pretend you're a pop princess. This is a playlist I have curated that will help you feel calm and raise the mood in any room it is played.

Have The Best Night Of Your Life
I feel centered when I listen to any kind of music, from classical to pop to metal, but I’d be nothing without my zen music. Calm, soothing music is the perfect escape from reality; it always blocks out the noise of the world and relaxes me, no matter where I am or what I’m doing.

Groovin' or Losin'
First off, let me say that I was never into Lo-Fi music for studying or background music until this year. Somehow, my brain functions when I listen to a podcast in the background, or maybe a sitcom I’ve seen a million times (no, it’s not The Office, it’s Frasier). With this, I found that while I was able to concentrate, I was still experiencing feeling rushed or always playing catch up with any project. Along with yoga and meditation, I started changing what I listened to and when I listened to it. This playlist is a little different, as it’s only made up from one artist, BROCKBEATS. This helps me concentrate since there is consistency, and I know what to expect. If I turn on new music, I become distracted by listening. Full playlist can be found at the bottom, and I have listed my top five songs from it below. Anyway, here goes…

Playlist to Soothe
I first want to start by saying that I don't typically make playlists. Thankfully I have the lovely Spotify to do that for me. If I were to make my own playlist it would be a mix of different genres and songs that do not go well together. Whenever I attempted to "DJ" my friends would either say "ooh what's this song? or "what the hell are we listening to?" So my dreams of being a DJ were crushed. So I just stick to liking songs and letting Spotify categorize songs for me. But once in a while I will find songs that I have to listen to back to back to put me in a mood. There are days where I have to reset my mind before work or when I get home to put myself back in a peaceful mindset. The following songs listed below always help me do that.

No Time For Zen, Only Joyous Despair
I’ve never been one for chillhop or smooth jazz, so when I saw that there was a Vocal+ challenge for a zen playlist, I thought, “Wow, there has never been something I’ve been more wildly underqualified to be a part of.” But I’ve chewed on it a bit, and I realize that I do have my music that I unwind to. It’s stressful, fast-paced, thoroughly despairing, but it’s how I relieve the stresses of the day, and I stand by it. It’s music that makes the world make sense, and it’s a lot of different work, but ultimately, it comprises a fuller picture of me. So why don’t I share a little bit of that?
