Taylor Swift is the Poet of the Twenty-First Century
I don't know about you guys, but I've been listening to Folklore on repeat since it came out. I also may or may not have memorised most of the lyrics. I've always loved Taylor Swift. There, I said it. And I've always loved her through all of her different sounds and albums, because of the quality of her lyrics. The poetic nature and the imagery in her lyrics are what lures me in, and it's probably why I love Folklore so much. She's not only one of the best songwriters of our generation but one of its best poets too, as that's what her lyrics are: delightful slices of poetry. Instead of writing a 600 word academic essay as to why I think she's such a profound poet, I thought I'd share with you all a list of same of my favourite poetry of hers. They are as follows (and in no particular order):

Jennifer Jess
Jennifer Jess is an exceptionally talented independent songwriter and musician from Atlanta, GA that’s taking the world by storm with her heartfelt lyrics, strong voice, and pure passion for the music she creates. Her latest single released to Spotify and other online music retailers is titled “Me First”- an introspective, acoustic piano version with strings that is easily one of the most beautiful tracks to date. The beautiful-crafted lyrics “So I’ll strike the match and watch it burn, say goodbye or better or worse. For once in my life I put me first.” will strike a chord in your heart. I fell in love with the song due to that verse.

Durham's beautiful launderette
By day, the soundtrack is the throb of dryers and the roar of the spin cycle, at night, the Old Cinema Launderette dances to a different beat. The distinctive Durham venue has created a special niche for itself as one of the best bijou concert halls in the country. Quirky and intimate, it’s invited an impressive array of artists – from folksters to punks – to put on a show in front of the tumble dryers, earning rave write-ups in the national press along the way.

Million Dollar Quartet hits the stage!
Right, another smash hit musical that graced the stage on the Norwegian Getaway. I was completely blown away with the talent this contract. Both casts were phenomenal, from Burn to this show. I couldn't catch my breathe. For this show it is inspired by the famous recording session that brought together the famed rock and roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time.

'The orchestra will never die': Why one composer says we need live music now more than ever
They say music feeds the soul. And now more than ever it's something humankind craves and needs. As the world copes with the enforced incarceration thanks to the coronavirus epidemic, thankfully, composers are still out there being creative and making music. And while a lot of the entertainment industry has come to a grinding halt, some are lucky enough to still be working and making money.

Zico’s “Any Song” - A Viral Challenge and Chart Domination
This past week, Zico became the first artist of 2020 to have a song attain a “Perfect All-Kill” on the South-Korean charts. For those who don’t know what that is, it means that a song is number one on the daily and realtime charts of Melon, Genie, Bugs, and Soribada along with the realtime charts of Flo and iChart; criteria that makes a song a Certified All-Kill. A Perfect All-Kill is then achieved when the song also becomes number one on iChart’s weekly chart. Despite being an undeniably talented artist who has been a fixture in the Korean mainstream for almost a decade, this is the first Perfect All-Kill that Zico has been a part of.

‘Hate Everything’ - How G.Soul Became Golden
For fans that veer away from the mainstream of Korean music, the name G.Soul will hardly be unfamiliar. The now 31-year-old burst onto the scene to much fanfare with his 2015 EP Coming Home (largely due to an infamous 15 year “training” period which involved considerable time stateside), with its title track proving to be the perfect supplement to the years of anticipation. “Coming Home” perfectly meshed the soulful vocals of Ki Ji-Hyun with an electronica backbeat and underlying finger snaps, making for a refreshing twist on modern R&B. The eventual climax, a higher-tempo, more energised delivery of the chorus, firmly marked G.Soul down as a star of the future, and ensured that critics wouldn’t take him lightly.

How John Coltrane's Music Changed My Productivity
When I was growing up, productivity was never really an action that I could do well. Maybe it's due to the constant distractions of being Young, but ever since I started college productivity, (unless I was super into the topic) was just painful. The ability to focus on something that wasn't about my everyday life caused me a lot of frustration and it lost my interest in a matter second; it wasn't until I started to study at a university when my productivity increased. What changed? Nothing Really, except for the music I was listening to while studying. I didn't change the times I studied; I didn't change the length of studying I didn't even change the amount of caffeine or coffee I would drink. No, I traded the music. In my second semester at San Francisco State University, I took a class called the music of John Coltrane.
