Mona’s Hot Four Jams Tuesday Night Jazz Until the Sun Comes Up
Photo by Eduardo Pavon If you’re not familiar with old time jazz, you’re still very likely to get a listen on TV shows and movies like Boardwalk Empire or The Untouchables. On the other hand, there’s something very cliched about the jazz band powering up to let us know that it’s the roaring twenties, and the speakeasy is about to be raided. So much so that you almost want the music to stop. But the Jazz Jam at Mona’s Bar N.Y.C. at 224 Avenue B actually brings you back, and the only draw back has nothing to do with the music feeling like old hat.

Kat Spina Can’t Stop in her New Single and You Won’t be Able to Either
“This song is about uninhibited fantasies about romance and attraction. We (producer Brian Forbes) and I first began with the soundscape,” Kat Spina told Spinexmusic.com. “The lyrics are visually powerful and evoke feelings of independence, freedom and empowered sexuality. Can’t Stop captures the feelings of being mesmerized and captivated so intensely that it’s hard to get it off of your mind.”

Dan Zlotnick of Somers has Room to Spare with his Music
Photo by Tom Bush IV As a young Rock n Roller, Dan Zlotnick wore a pony tail but insists that the locks didn’t make him cool. He also dismisses the myth that musicians in high school get all the girls. The Somers native side stepped the perceived benefits anyway with several long term girlfriends. Now, five years into his professional career, Zlotnick still puts aside the fringe benefits of the lifestyle, and the personal choice, suffices for the subject of his latest single.

Slow Rush by Tame Impala
The Album Slow Rush was long awaited by me. I hadn’t gotten over the previous Tame Impala album—Currents, and now, I simple shuffle between the two albums because it’s hard to choose a favourite. Tame Impala has evolved from raw psychedelic to refined alternative pop. What makes the music more interesting is the man and his story behind it. But let’s just dive into the music first.

The Renegade Dream
I have always sought understanding of the magical nature of the universe. I recall as a child, looking up into the night sky wondering if this vast sparkling universe could in some way reflect the brain inside my head, the electric mind, the soul I sought to connect with behind my eyes.

Mallsoft Tranquility: Revisiting Lost Mall Environments
Malls from the 80s and 90s were places of wonder. Tile floors, palm plants, fountains filled with coins, rows of stores, and low-quality hit music playing in the background made up a comforting commercial paradise that most consumers could spend hours wandering.
