Clare Torry and the Great Gig. Top Story - August 2022.
I have always been fascinated with the stories behind those moments in the arts when one person, event, change, movement or accident created something very new and exciting; something that no one else could have done. This is the story of one woman who does not have the level of fame that is equal with her role in popular music history. There might be some fanatics out there who do know her and even love her, but I have had too many responses over the years when I mention this story gape and feel as though they are learning something new and exciting. I hope that this adds to the story of one of my favourite groups and that you also feel as though you have discovered something new.

No Pussyfooting
The Mirrored Blue Room How Do You? Talk about an album that has no formal tunes and is just sounds. This is what I am trying to do with “No Pussyfooting” by Robert Fripp and Brian Eno. Robert Fripp is the guitarist and main man with progressive rock band King Crimson and Brian Eno began his mainstream exposure as Roxy Music’s non-musician specialising in electronics and treatments. Brian Eno is credited with the invention of Ambient Music when he was ill listening to a record but the sound was too low but he couldn’t get up to turn it up slightly but he could hear the music or sound in the distance.

The Catman part IV
Peter and Ace saw the opportunity of making good money with the Reunion tour. Ace was not doing much with his band “Frehley’s Comet” and jumped right in without hesitation. If you ever wondered how Gene and Paul got so rich, the “Reunion” tour is the answer.

The Catman part III
“Destroyer”, “Rock and Roll over” and “Love Gun” translated into big success for the band and specially Peter. Kiss was selling lots of records, playing on big venues, lady luck was on their side. On his personal life, not that much, everything that glitters is not gold.

Iggy Pop Is The Passenger. Top Story - August 2022.
Introducing The Passenger I have always been a fan of Iggy Pop ever since The Stooges. I loved “The Idiot” his first David Bowie collaboration, but the follow-up, “Lust For Life” was jam-packed with amazing songs like the title track, “Success” and for me, most importantly “The Passenger” written by Ricky Gardiner, the lead guitarist on the album.

A Story Behind the Song Nature's Way by the band Spirit
Natures Way by Spirit was released in 1970 This song is a reflection on mortality and a lament for the fate of the Earth, as nature is telling us that something is wrong. The song was written long before climate change became a hot topic, but even in 1970, some ecologically minded songwriters were concerned about Mother Earth. -Songfacts

The Music Died. Top Story - July 2022.
Dragging a brush through my hair sent screams of agony ringing through the house. Nothing was worse than the sharp bits of the brush tangling my hair until it wrapped into one huge mess. My Long ringlets became one big ringlet, a scrambled mess after a restless night’s sleep. Those mornings following a few drinks at the pub the night before were even worse.

Fans Choice: 20 Favorite Songs of Roxy Music. Top Story - July 2022.
Fan's Choice: 20 Favorite Songs of Roxy Music I caught on to Roxy Music a little late in the game. It was in the summer of 1979. I was at my local Licorice Pizza music store browsing through the records and I came across Roxy Music's Manifesto. The album cover itself was enough to sell me, so I bought it on faith without sampling the tracks. When I got home I immediately tore that shrink wrap off and played the album. Home run!!! The album was a hit with me. I loved it upon the first listen. The album became one of my favorites of the summer of '79 along with Supertramp's Breakfast in America and Blondie's Parallel Lines. Within the next six months I bought the entire catalog of Roxy Music albums. I was a bonafide fan.
