Love is a wondrous thing. There are many songs written about true love, wishing for love, unrequited love, and even heartbreak when breaking up. I want to take you through the years along Lovers Lane with popular love songs from the 1940s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.

I Swear” is a song that was written by Gary Baker and Frank J. Myers. It became a hit for American country music artist John Michael Montgomery in 1993 and for the American R&B group All-4-One in 1994. Montgomery released it as the lead single from his album Kickin’ It Up. The song went to number one on the Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. It crossed over to pop radio and charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song is a ballad of undying love.

Can’t Stop Lovin’ You” is a song that was recorded by the American band Van Halen in 1995. It is featured on their album Balance. The song was written by all the members of the band and it pays homage to “I Can’t Stop Loving You” by American singer and pianist Ray Charles. It became their most successful single from their album and the only single that reached the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also charted on the UK Singles and Canadian RPM 100 charts.

More Than Words” is a song by American rock band Extreme, This is a ballad that features the acoustic guitar work of Nuno Bettencourt and the vocals of Gary Cherone. The song was released as a single from their 1990 album Pornograffitti. The song went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and charted on the UK Singles chart.

Friday I’m in Love” is a song that was recorded by the British rock band The Cure. It was the second single released from their 1992 album Wish. The song became a worldwide hit and charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles charts. At the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards the song won the award for European Viewer’s Choice for Best Music Video.

As Long As You Love Me” is a song that was recorded by the American boy band Backstreet Boys. It is featured on their 1997 debut album Backstreet Boys. The song was written by Max Martin. It is also featured on their second album Backstreet’s Back. It topped the charts in countries like Lithuania, New Zealand, the Philippines, and Romania, The song charted in other countries as well and spent 56 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart.

When a Man Loves a Woman” is a song that was written by Calvin Lewis and Andrew Wright. It was first recorded in 1966 by American R&B, soul, and gospel singer Percy Sledge. In 1991 it was covered by American singer and songwriter Michael Bolton. It is featured on his album Time, Love, & Tenderness. Bolton’s version went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and Adult Contemporary charts. He also received a Grammy Award for the song.

(Everything I Do) I Do It for You” is a song that was recorded by Canadian singer and songwriter Bryan Adams. It was written by Adams, Michael Kamen, and Robert John “Mutt” Lange. This is a power ballad and was the lead single for both the soundtrack album from the 1991 film “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” and Adams’ album Waking Up the Neighbors. The song became a great success internationally and reached number one on the music charts of at least thirteen countries, It topped both the Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles charts. The song sold over 15 million copies worldwide making it Adams’ most successful song and one of the best-selling singles of all time.
