
August is slowly drifting away with memories of other summers. No matter how hot it’s been summer has some magic to it. Soon it will be over and the autumn will begin. Then there will be those that will miss the summertime. So sit back and enjoy these songs of summer and drift for a while and remember.
“Endless Summer” is a song by German singer Oceana Mahlman. It is featured on her 2012 album My House as the lead single. It was the official song of the UEFA Euro 2012 that was held in Poland and Ukraine. The song can be heard on the UEFA Euro 2912 video game and plays before every match in the tournament mode.
“Hot Fun in the Summertime” is a song that was recorded by the American band Sly and the Family Stone. The single was released in 1969 just prior to the band performing at the rock festival Woodstock. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Soul Singles charts. Rolling Stone magazine ranks it at number 247 on their list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
“All Summer Long” is a song that was recorded by the American rock band The Beach Boys. It was written by band members Brian Wilson and Mike Love and is featured on their 1964 album of the same name.
“Girls In Their Summer Clothes” is a song that was written by and recorded by American singer and songwriter Bruce Springsteen. It is featured on his album Magic. The song won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Song.
“Our Last Summer” is a song that was recorded by the Swedish pop group Abba. It was written by group members Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. The song is featured on their album Super Trouper. The song was inspired by a romance Ulvaeus had as a teenager visiting Paris, France. He met a Swedish girl working as an au pair in Paris and she took him to see the sights. The song is also featured in the musical with ABBA songs “Mamma Mia!”
“Summer In the City” is a song that was recorded by the American folk-rock band The Lovin’ Spoonful. It was written by John Sebastian, Mark Sebastian, and Steve Boone. The song was released as a non-album single in 1966. It was the band’s fifth song to make it into the Top Ten and became their only number-one hit. The song is the closing track on the 1966 album Huma Do the Lovin’ Spoonful.
“The Other Side of Summer” is a song that was written and recorded by the English singer and songwriter Elvis Costello. It was released as a single from his 1991 album Mighty Like a Rose. The song charted on the UK Singles chart and made it to number one on the US Modern Rock Tracks chart.
“Summer of ‘69” is a song that was recorded by Canadian singer Bryan Adams. It is featured on his album Reckless. The song was written by Adams and Jim Vallance. Released as a single in 1985 it charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles charts.
“Under the Boardwalk” is a song that was recorded by the American pop and R&B/soul vocal group The Drifters. It was written by Kenny Young and Arthur Resnick. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Among the popular cover versions is one by American singer and actress Bette Midler featured in the movie “Beaches”. Rolling Stone magazine ranks the song at number 487 on their list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
