The rapper/pastor jumps back in the rap realm (again)

In totally unnecessary rap- diss- song news, Pastor Mason Betha decided to chide his former boss, Sean “Diddy” Combs. He blasts off rounds that seem to pierce through Diddy’s character-armor, but none of his bars relate to live rounds in the song "Oracle 2: Standing on Bodies."

Betha rediscovers (yet again) that he can come out of the realm of the cloth to reenter the land of wolves, heathens, and heretics to mingle with them.

The bars have the look and feel of defeating his enemy- once- friend, but he unloads nonsense that would make famous Christian rappers like Ye blush.

His entire attitude is clear when he says “We ain’t nothing...” Betha declares on the track over and over that ties have frayed and snapped, and the well has been soured. Their connections had the power to push platinum albums. Now, a sometimes reverend, Betha can’t escape from making the error of sounding ungrateful.

Similar to Freddy P of Da Band fame, who recently aired his grievances about Diddy, Betha is whining and crying about a past relationship. With the autotune saturated track, Betha seems poised to project a flow that is analogous to young up and coming rappers singing over trap beats.

The saddest part about this whole affair is the youth coming up through the mud will be tempted to hate on a boss. Instead of holding Diddy down like Tony Yayo does for 50 Cent, Betha wants to piss and moan about how he’s “ready for a massacre.”

With the stakes this low, no one should expect Diddy to respond. He’ll be too busy counting his money.

Betha steps in and out of the water more than a timid deer. Thanks to his backward ways, he probably drops to his knees and prays to the Father to forgive him of his bitter rhetoric.

If he had any sense at all, he would meet with Diddy and clear the air, not record a needless diss record to flex a muscle that isn't there. All the times he disagreed with Diddy could have been hashed out behind the scenes. With this track, he seems to be grasping at whatever pieces of fame he still has left in him.

Watchful eyes and attuned ears will see and hear just how sad and depressing it is for Betha to attempt to assassinate the boss, making a great deal of noise but landing no shot.

Connections to the past will definitely serve as a way for Diddy to just see this attempt at reclaiming stardom and dismiss it. Total misunderstandings like this drop nearly everyone into a quagmire. His brazen disregard for Diddy is worse than biting the hand that once fed him. It’s an attempt to lick the wounds all at the same time.

For anyone to truly understand Betha’s rancor towards Diddy, it is important not just to know how he took a one hundred and eighty degree turn and “found Jesus.” One has to understand how he moved down to Atlanta and got involved with the church systems of the South. Years later, he would come back into the game with a song called “Welcome Back.”

“Breathe, Stretch, Shake” followed, and an album with a lukewarm reception from critics, and decent reaction from listeners surfaced.

Then he ran back to the church. This mentality, close to Ye's, is a dangerous psychological balancing act. Betha ought to focus less on his past spats with his former chief, and more on how he can better understand the scripture. Or, at the most, maybe he’s an atheist in his mind, just putting on a front like he believes in the unknown and unknowable.

As the hip hop scene continues down the path of illogic, confusion, and nonsense, Betha is currently leading the charge working out feelings, not with a therapist, but with the world. Is Jesus still on the mainline for Mason Betha?
