Songs with the word queen in the title

By Rasma RaistersPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

This is part of my little series of songs written about the feminine gender. It began with songs with the word girl in the title, then songs with the word woman in the title, you'll find the links below. Now the last in the series are songs with the word queen in the title. Some lucky women do have their partners put them on pedestals and consider them to be their queens.

“Ballad of a Teenage Queen” is a song that was written by Jack Clement and recorded by American country singer and songwriter Johnny Cash. Background music was provided by The Tennessee Two. The song is on his 1958 album Sings the Songs That Made Him Famous. It rose up to number one on the US Country charts and also charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Cash re-recorded the song in 1987 featuring guest vocals by his daughter, Rosanne Cash and the Everly Brothers. This version was released on the 1988 duets album Water from the Wells of Home.

“Queen of Spades” is a song recorded by the American rock band Styx. It is on their 1978 album Pieces of Eight. Other singles on this album are “Blue Collar Man (Long Nights)” and “Renegade”. The album achieved triple Platinum certification.

“Queen of Hearts” is a country pop song written by Hank DeVito. It was first recorded by Welsh singer and songwriter Dave Edmundson. Released as a single the song did not chart. In 1981 it was recorded by American country and pop singer and songwriter Juice Newton. Her version was very successful and charted around the world. The song is on her album of the same name and was certified Gold. Newton's version is featured in the 1986 film “Boogie Nights”.

“Dancing Queen” is a Europop and disco song. It was written by Benny Andersson, Bjorn Ulvaeus, and Stig Anderson. The song was recorded by the Swedish group ABBA. It was released as a single in 1976 and quickly became a number-one hit around the globe. It became one of the most recognizable and popular of all ABBA songs. In 2015 the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

“Queen of the Hours” is a song that was recorded by the British rock band Electric Light Orchestra. It is on their self-titled debut album released in 1971. The song later became the B-side to “Roll Over Beethoven” from their second album ELO 2.

“I Might Have Been Queen” is a song that was written for American-born and naturalized Swiss singer, dancer, actress, and author Tina Turner. It is the first track on her album Private Dancer. The song was written by Jeanette Obstoj, Rupert Hine, and Jamie West-Oram. The lyrics are meant to be an autobiographical telling of Turner's story. Turner performed the song on the 1984 Private Dancer Tour and during a performance at the Radio City Music Hall in NYC in 1993.

“Queen of My Heart” is a song that was written and recorded by American singer and songwriter Hank Williams Jr. It was released as the first single from his 1983 album Man of Steel.

“Killer Queen” is a song recorded by the British rock band Queen. It was written by the band's lead singer Freddie Mercury and is on their third album Sheer Heart Attack. The song became popular both on the UK and US charts. It was the band's first US hit and charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song is included in Queen's 1981 Greatest Hits compilation and on the live albums Live Killers and Queen Rock Montreal. In 1986 “Killer Queen” was featured as the B-side to the song “Who Wants to Live Forever”.
