Author's Note: (added because to enter the challenge, apparently, the entry needs to be 500 words, which seems odd for a songwriting challenge... ah well..)
This is the first song I have ever written. I had never used Suno AI before, but goodness, was it easy! I wrote the lyrics myself, of course; this is a writing competition after all. However, I used Suno AI to help achieve the desired tune.
What amazes me is that the AI used the same tune to bring the song to life as the one playing in my head as I wrote the words.
Which is incredibly weird. Don't you think?
To hear a song that has only been alive inside your head moments before is very much an out-of-body experience.
But it's one I really, really, really like!
The only part of the song I'm not keen on is the musical sign-off at the end. However, I am so excited that in one take, it came out pretty much as I expected; I hit submit and, if you'll excuse the pun, played on.
This was such an enjoyable experience. I am super keen to write more songs now!
Album out for Christmas!

Ahem... maybe not.
However, maybe, just maybe, it has given me the confidence to write more song lyrics.
Suno AI can help me musically frame my words and send them to actual musicians who, in turn, may be able to create something more profoundly stirring than any algorithm could.
How wonderful would that be?!
One thing I do know for sure: I will be making more.

A Sandwich Short of a Picnic My ears ring. Alarm in perpetuity. The hammer and pluck of too many questions. A fighting chime of chords made from clashing notes of doom and discombobulation. They flow along staves of shady tidal waves, scouring open wounds with salt as they bite down to chew on the rot of my grey matter. Above and below, the moon swims limp and flat, leached of purpose and offering no destination. I howl into its mirror as my gilt- edged tears slosh down my cheeks in rivers of orange. Ironclad life rusting out of me in heavy metal groans—a tinman of brittle bones and weight. My mouth is dumb, filled with a pink marshmallow tongue that has spent too long licking saccharine walls, ceilings, and floors. Searching for doors. My teeth have melted in the constancy of the candyfloss storm clouds that spin, unending, in my lipstick-stained walk of shame sky. Once, I was one note in the dark beating a solitary and expectant rhythm—an incubated womb dweller dreaming of life—reverberating with diastolic and systolic ebb and flow. Harmony, my primal beat, my yin and yang. Then, the orchestra of joy and fear began. As the conductor tapped the baton, I screamed. Will humanity ever fill its void? The auditorium has grown so big, globalised and homogenised. It hums with white noise and hankers for syncopated beats. I cannot find my feet. The light fantastic has tripped out, and I keep falling over in the dark. It has a lot to do with this beige straight jacket of civility. It isn't me. I may drown in the sweat that pours as I try to wriggle free. It's either that, or I will throttle myself trying. Choke holds where blood should flow. Pedal to the metal. A hyperventilated state. Hope has anarchised into a four-letter word. I have tattooed it on my head because no matter how much I pack it with ice into my heart, it thaws its way out of me. A dose of salts seeping from my pores, leaking from my eyes, crusting on my lips. Bittersweet and antiseptic. My heartstrings are soggy. They play loopy tunes that nobody can sing along to, and my picnics are always one sandwich short. I used to know how to make a meal of it. One day, I will have a gathering where everyone laughs at themselves. I shall attend, and I shall arrive naked.

'20/20'
"Do It Again" the track that would ultimately open the Beach Boys final album on Capitol Records which was released on February 10th 1969 had originally been released as a single in August of 1968. The track was the first of many post-Pet Sounds era throwbacks to the early Beach Boys sound which would become continually more cliched and eventually lead the Beach Boys to the level of self-parody they would eventually succumb to in the 1980s while their closest contemporaries The Beatles nearing the end of their run in 1969 would go on to be viewed as the most influential band of all time. However, the song itself is not bad on its surface, and it opens with a futuristic sounding (for 1969) drumbeat captured by then-Beach Boys engineer Stephen Desper using tape delays on the drums performed by Dennis Wilson and John Guerin. The song has been re-recorded numerous times over the years on various Beach Boys-related projects most notably the 2011 re-recording at Capitol studios featuring the five surviving Beach Boys at the time backed instrumentally by various members of both the Brian Wilson Band and Mike Loves touring "Beach Boys" to promote the then upcoming Beach Boys 50th Anniversary reunion tour in 2012. The hammering and power drill sound at the end of the song was an excerpt from a track called "Workshop" that was to be a part of the uncompleted "SMiLE" album.

This was so great Caroline, I loved the music and had no idea AI could do such things! I love that you had such a good experience and ventured out into song writing, I recall you being great with poetry so I'm not shocked your song is sooo good! In my head they're kind of similar genres of writing!

I read the words first and thought they were beautiful…. Seeing the blue sky in the artex ceiling and the melancholic philharmonic…. Fab. When I listened to the music I thought it had a Simon and Garfunkel feel to it. Ace!! Loved it. Good luck in the challenge.
AI music is just scary, you wouldn't skip it and it fits your word in excellently . I decided I had to listen as I was choosing music for my next Glittering Fox piece. Excellent. This is a definite Top Story and at least a challenge place

I've been using Suno for a couple years now. I'm obsessed, but I can't find myself ever truly satisfied. Redoing them a million times lol. Your song is stunning, my friend.
