Looking For The End Of The Road
For The Vocal Harmonic Verses Challenge

This is me singing
The Suno song is an AI Generation with my direction and lyrics, my version will appear here
Introduction
This is a bit of a challenge and the intention is for me to share a personal performance of the song (I am not a very good musician but someone once said you take an inanimate object and make it sing, or something like that).
I have written the poem as a set of quatrains with a repeated title couplet that serves as the chorus.
The thing is with song lyrics you don't have to be too bothered about rhymes, as long as the rhythm is constant and the lyrics sound right. Rhyming is good but not necessary.
With this, I thought some kind of road trip could be a basis for a story, and then thought of Bob Dylan's "Desolation Row", which is an almost surreal set of scenarios, although Dylan has created more straightforward story songs.
A story can be anything for a song, though often it is about true love, lost love, journeys, robberies and various permutations from those scenarios. Take "The End" by The Doors, it hardly has a chord and is based on the Oedipus story and lasts for eleven minutes and certainly tells a story, but so does the two minutes of Elvis Presley's "I Got Stung" (a favourite of mine).
I thought this would be difficult, but I have got enough words for a song, and they tell of a journey of self-revelation. I have got a melody and three chords and will just use my acoustic guitar, although I was considering electric, keyboard and mandolin.
I will also share an AI generated version in the style of Leonard Cohen/Nick Drake which will probably sound far more professional than my effort, but you can let me know what you think.
These are my YouTube, Soundcloud, and Sonos channels where you can see and hear some of my attempted performances, some have got a lot of views as well:
Incidentally, this was my first AI attempt but there was a spelling mistake in my text and computers just do what they are told, and it can't change the recording. It really grates on me, but still sounds ok.
I would love to hear your thoughts, but while I am good with words, and can sing with a band, my music may leave a bit to be desired. Maybe I am just too clumsy or lazy.
Thank you so much for reading and hopefully listening.

I LOVE THIS SONG! EXCELLENT LYRICS!
This is so fantastic! I am jealous of your musical skills, you're a great guitar player & vocalist and I can definitely tell this was not your first song. :) The suno version is awesome, too!!
Brilliant song Mike β¦οΈβ¦οΈβ¦οΈ
I liked it Mike. Having played in a band for many years, the lyrics of your song run along quite nicely and have meaning and depth (two very important aspects for me, which is why I have no time for rap). I am still working on my entry but I doubt that I will add a vocal version, my voice is well and truly stuffed now after all these years and a throat operation.
love your song, Mike
I have to agree with Michelle - this is an incredibly introspective song. This is wonderfully done, in my opinion!
Enjoyed the song, your lyrics, & listening to the tracks you included at the end.
Hey, you did it, made a song. That is the heart of it all, you did it. How many of us can say that, I certainly will try, inspired by you and Rick. Keep on being creative.
That's a very introspective song, Mike. Meaningful. Love it.
Great work. Your song takes me back to the early 70's and my childhood and listening to folk music. You are a great folk musician/singer.
