“Morning Has Broken” is a Christian hymn that was first published in 1931. The words are by English author Eleanor Farjeon. The song was inspired by the village of Alfriston in East Sussex, England. The melody is a traditional Scottish Gaelic tune “Bunessan”. In 1971 English pop musician and folk singer Cat Stevens recorded the song featuring it on his album Teaser and the Firecat. His recording became very popular and charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It rose to number one on the Easy Listening chart.
“Angel of the Morning” is a popular song that was written by Chip Taylor. It was first recorded by Evie Sands and has been covered many times. Among the most popular versions was one recorded by American country and pop singer Juice Newton. Her version came out in 1981 and is featured on her album Juice. Juice Newton’s version charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Country Music charts. It went to number one on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart.
“Touch Me in the Morning” is a song that was recorded by American singer and actress Diana Ross. It was written by Ron Miller and Michael Masser. The song was released in 1973 and was the first single from her album of the same name. It became Diane Ross’s second solo number one single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
“Good Morning Starshine” is a pop song from the 1967 musical Hair. It became a big hit for American pop singer Oliver in 1969.
“Early Morning Rain” is a song that was written by Canadian singer and songwriter Gordon Lightfoot. It is featured on his 1966 debut album Lightfoot!
“Because the Night” is a rock song that was written by American singer and songwriter Bruce Springsteen and American singer and songwriter Patti Smith. It was recorded by the Patti Smith Group and is featured on their 1978 album. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Rolling Stone magazine has ranked it at number 358 on the list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
“Help Me Make It Through the Night” is a country ballad that was written by American country singer and songwriter Kris Kristofferson. It is featured on his 1970 album Kristofferson. The song has been covered by many different artists with the most popular version by American country singer Sammi Smith and is featured on her album of the same name. It has become the most successful and best-known version.
“Strangers in the Night” is a song that was written by Bert Kaempfert with English lyrics by Charles Singleton and Eddie Snyder. In 1966 the song was made popular by American singer and actor Frank Sinatra. His version went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and Easy Listening charts. The song also went to number one on the UK Singles chart. Sinatra won the Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and the Grammy for Record of the Year.
“Until the Night” is a song that was written and recorded by American singer, songwriter, and pianist Billy Joel. It is featured on his 1978 album 52nd Street and is the second single released from that album. The song also charted on the UK Singles chart.
“Let’s Spend the Night Together” is a song that was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards members of the English rock band The Rolling Stones. It was recorded by The Rolling Stones in 1967 and is the opening track of their American album Between the Buttons. The song charted on both the UK Singles and Billboard Hot 100 charts.
