R&B/Soul Singer-Songwriter Diquan Julius is extending the summer vibes with the release of his newest single, “Let’s Dance.” The song will be available for streaming and download on all major digital platforms this Friday, August 20. The feel-good dance record is the premiere release following Julius’ recent signing to Return Records, the D.M.V.-based independent artist-driven imprint distributed by The Orchard/Sony Music Entertainment. Produced by UK-based Greenlight Production’s Andrew Napoleon, “Let’s Dance” is a high-energy follow-up to Julius’ most recent single, “Soap Box.”

Reminiscent of many timeless classics, the up-tempo line dance-worthy song offers the perfect complement to cookout and wedding playlists with undeniable potential for generational crossover appeal. “With this song, I really wanted to shine light onto the darkness that’s overtaken our love of gathering together and having a good time,” shared Julius. “My intentions are to bring back that feeling of being able to invite a special person out, whether it be your friend or someone you admire, and not have to worry about the restrictions of the pandemic. I want the world to dance together again.”

Based out of Washington D.C. and hailing from Hemingway, SC, Julius has seamlessly transitioned to R&B/Soul after a Billboard-charting debut in Gospel music. He is now preparing to keep the momentum going with an official music video, followed by a debut EP due out later this fall.

What do you love most about being a music artist?

What I love the most about being a music artist is being able to express myself in a format that I believe helps so many people mentally, spiritually, and sometimes physically. I grew up listening to music that gave me feelings of success, excitement, and just heart throbbing expectations of good days to come. This has all turned into having an appreciation for those that love my music and getting to understand their stories through opening up to me because they enjoy what I do.

What impact do you want to make on the world through your music?

I would love to see the cross-generational success that would get people thinking about that Diquan Julius record that helped them in any of the ways mentioned. I want my music to transcend amongst generations for decades and decades like the greats such as Mike, Prince, Stevie, Marvin, and so on. Hopefully, my music will be able to touch many in a positive way and people will be able to relate to the stories that I look forward to telling.

What reactions have you received so far about the "Let's Dance" single?

Reactions for Let's Dance have been overwhelmingly great. One journalist compares my style to Michael Jackson while other music critics compared parts of the song to Bruno Mars. I would say that is pretty good company to be in as it relates to putting out the legendary type of music that you need to give people that piece of memorable work to affect lives.

What are you currently working on?

I am currently working on a music video to provide everyone with the excitement and joy that makes this track what it is. We will feature a block party and just show everyone that music can still be fun and filled with a positive message of love however that may come. I am also finishing up my debut EP for Return Records and I hope that everyone enjoys the full project as much as this single.

What advice would you have for aspiring music artists?

I would definitely tell them don't listen to everyone and believe in themselves. You have to know who you are and the type of music that you are made to create. Everyone may not like it but if you make good professional music someone will. I would also tell them don't give up. This journey is long and there are days that seem like you are not going anywhere but don't get discouraged and keep grinding. You are great!
