Songs that tug at the heartstrings

Soon it will be Valentine’s Day so I have created a list of some of the most beautiful love songs. As you and your significant other share your love you can listen to these while having a candlelight dinner, later sip some wine, and slow dance. Happy Valentine’s Day!
“Lara’s Theme” is a leitmotif (short, recurring musical phrase) that was written for the 1965 movie “Doctor Zhivago”. It later became the basis of the song “Somewhere My Love”. The most popular version of this song was recorded by American bandleader and arranger Ray Conniff. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and went to number one on the Easy Listening chart. In 1967 the song won the Grammy Award for Best Performance by a Chorus.
“The Power of Love” is a song that came out as a single in 1985. It was recorded by the American pop/rock band Huey Lewis and the News. It was written for the soundtrack of the movie “Back to the Future”. The song became the band’s first number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and their second number-one on the Mainstream Rock chart.
“Dance Me to the End of Love” is a song that was written by and recorded by the Canadian singer and songwriter Leonard Cohen. It is featured on his 1984 album Various Positions.
“Suddenly You Love Me” is the English version of an Italian hit written by Ricardo del Turco “Uno Tranquillo”. The English version was recorded by the British band The Tremeloes. It explores the complexities of a tumultuous relationship with surprising moments of love.
“I Was Born to Love You” is a song by the British rock band Queen member Freddie Mercury. It was released in 1985 and featured on his first solo album Mr. Bad Guy. After Mercury died, Queen re-worked the song and featured it on their 1995 album Made In Heaven. A live version of the song was featured on Queen’s 2005 tour of Japan.
“My Heart Cries for You” is a popular song from an 18th-century French melody. The most successful recording was made by the American pop singer Guy Mitchell which charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 1950 new English lyrics were written for the song.
“Love You Till the End” is a song that was recorded by the British Celtic punk band The Pogues. It is featured on their 1996 album Pogue Mahone.
“I Can’t Stop Loving You” is a popular song that was written and composed by the American country musician Don Gibson. It is featured on his 1958 album Oh Lonesome Me. The most notable and successful version was recorded by the American singer and songwriter Ray Charles. His version went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
“You’re My First, the Last, My Everything” is a song that was recorded by the American singer and songwriter Barry White. It is featured on his 1974 album Can’t Get Enough. The song was written by White, Tony Sepe, and Peter Radcliffe. It charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and went to number-one on the UK Singles chart. The song was certified Gold by the RIAA.
“Unchained Melody” is a song written in 1955 by Hy Zaret and Alex North. The music was a theme for the prison movie “Unchained” in 1955. It became one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century. The most popular version was recorded in 1964 by the American singing duo The Righteous Brothers. Their version was featured in the 1990 movie “Ghost” which brought new popularity to the song.

I love listening to songs like these. Maybe I'm the 'fluffy valentine,' but I was brought up with these songs, and my tastes do go back extremely far. I enjoyed my love car trip down memory lane!
