The traditional story concerning the origins of the Jagannath temple is that here the original image of Jagannath (a deity form of Vishnu) at the end of Dvapara yuga manifested near a banyan tree, near seashore in the form of an Indranila mani or the Blue Jewel.

चांद्रयान 1
चांद्रयान-1 हे भारतीय अंतराळ संशोधन संस्थेने (इस्रो) लाँच केलेले पहिले चंद्र शोध मोहीम आहे. ही चंद्रावरची भारताची पहिली मोहीम होती आणि 22 ऑक्टोबर 2008 रोजी भारतातील आंध्र प्रदेशातील श्रीहरिकोटा येथील सतीश धवन अंतराळ केंद्रातून प्रक्षेपित करण्यात आली होती.चंद्राच्या रासायनिक, खनिज आणि फोटो-जिओलॉजिकल मॅपिंगसाठी हे यान चंद्राच्या पृष्ठभागापासून 100 किमी उंचीवर चंद्राभोवती फिरत होते. या यानात भारत, यूएसए, यूके, जर्मनी, स्वीडन आणि बल्गेरियामध्ये तयार केलेली 11 वैज्ञानिक उपकरणे होती.
