Simply Me.. Top Story - February 2024. Content Warning.
I'll start this off by saying that if I had to choose a word for this next year on Vocal, it would be Discovery. Vocal has been my breakthrough for my writing. What I mean by that, is I have enjoyed writing since I can remember. As a child, and into my teens I loved writing poems and song lyrics, and eventually started writing fictional love stories. But then I became an adult, and that life hit me like a freight train. Writing fell on the back burner for many years, even though I still had a desire deep down to continue it. I always let life get in the way though. And then, in my early 30's I ran across the Vocal platform. A spark lit back up in me, just a small one though. Because unfortunately at the time I was stuck in an unhealthy addiction which consumed my time and energy. So I signed up for the yearly subscription, and started to write. And boy did I write, for several months in fact. But sadly a year down the road I looked at my progress, and all I had to show for it were a bunch of unfinished drafts. I was going through so much I didn't really have the ability or attention span to commit myself to what I so badly wanted to do. With that being said, and before I can talk about my goals and aspirations for this new year on Vocal, I need to give you a bit more insight into my past.

Time Undone
I've been alive for 28 years now, And my owner has always been very good to me. Making sure my hands have always kept moving, And my tick has always tocked. I've sat on her wall since she was gifted to me On her 50th birthday by her older sister Sharlene. The first time she saw me, She said I was the most beautiful of clocks she had ever seen. Hand painted with pink and blue roses And a beautiful shine. She hugged me in her arms And for the first time I felt the warmth Of loves touch. Like clockwork, the first day of every third month, She'd take me down off the wall and replace my batteries. Didn't matter if I needed new ones or not She always made sure I was alive and well.

Rise Again
Tried and true my soul does speak Reaching through, and breaking silence Thoughts so fragile, made of glass Pieces shattering from unspoken violence. ~*~ Running around in spiral circles Valiantly chasing empty promises Cleaving to a false hope given, My own personal Adonises. ~*~ Believing yet, of a future secure Dreams of copacetic connection Trying my hand at this thing called hope "Is this love?" Being the truest of questions. ~*~ Bleach stained moments, Selective is how I choose to remember Idolizing the good over the bad My white flag I willingly surrender. ~*~ Deep feeling thoughts, deeper filled cuts Wounds that will not heal What was once an innocent heart Now can no longer feel. ~*~ Eager for the sunlight to touch my skin Breaking through this new formed stone Finding light, unbinding the darkness Ready again to take the throne.

Lost and Found. Content Warning.
You and I were the same growing up. We walked in each other's shoes, wore the same clothes, we even did our hair the same way. I really didn't think there was a time we would ever be apart. I remember you reading your teen crush magazines, singing and dancing to your favorite bands. Playing M.A.S.H. with your friends, and swearing one day you were going to marry A.J. from the Backstreet Boys. You were so innocent and carefree in those days. Boys had cooties… Until one day, they didn't.
