It feels like only a short time ago Northern Ireland fans had an incredible worry over the future. Who would replace the aging Davis, McCauley, Evans et al.? Then Stuart Dallas' career came to an unfortunate end due to a knee injury in 2022. NI were an aging team and despite promoting U21s boss Ian Baraclough to the senior role, the same names seemed to be called up. The lack of fresh, younger face became a defining factor in poor results and more tournaments were missed out on. It all seemed doom and gloom at Windsor Park. Eventually Baraclough was dismissed and a return for Michael O'Neil was on the cards.

Russell Martin - Wrong Person, Wrong Time
This piece is written by a Rangers fan. Someone who wants the club to do the best it can. While having a preference on who should take the Ibrox seat, this fan was willing and still is to put aside that preference should the chosen candidate be the right one. After five league games, six UEFA Champions League qualifying matches and one mediocre League Cup fixture, the jury is clearly out on Russell Martin. This article serves to analyse why he was never the correct choice, what that correct choice should look like and why the club must act now in order to begin reversing the damage that has been caused since the June appointment.
