Attention has been paid to the air quality and climate benefit strategy of China's "power transmission from west to east" strategy.
In response to China's strategy of "power transmission from west to east", Environmental Research KuaiBao (Environmental Research Letters) published an article entitled "Air quality and Climate benefits of long-distance Transmission in China" (Air Quality and Climate Benefits of Long-Distance Electricity Transmission in China) on June 13, 2017, studying the deployment strategies to solve the two major problems of air pollution and carbon emissions. It is proposed that long-distance transmission planning with the introduction of renewable energy is very important to maximize air quality and global climate benefits. This paper collates the core viewpoints of this study for reference.

Between 1990 and 2015, EU gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 50 per cent, while emissions decreased by 22 per cent. According to the current trend forecast, the trend of decoupling between economic growth and greenhouse gas emissions will continue. (3) the EU has significantly reduced the intensity of greenhouse gas emissions. The European Union is currently one of the most economically efficient economies in greenhouse gas emissions and has become the most economically efficient country in the Group of 20 leading economies by setting climate and energy targets for 2030.

WRI: eight policy opportunities to support climate resilience

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has begun to develop a new "disaster deductible" (disaster deductible) policy, which requires states to pay deductible fees before receiving federal disaster assistance. States can reduce their deductibles by implementing pre-disaster resilience measures. To make further progress, the federal government can: 1 provide additional pre-disaster assistance by increasing funding for FEMA pre-disaster mitigation projects; and 2 promote "disaster deductibles" from concept to comprehensive policies to encourage states to implement pre-disaster measures.

one In first place was the heat-related death burden due to recent man-made climate change (The Burden of Heat-related Mortality Attributable to Recent Human-induced Climate Change) published in Natural Climate change (Nature Climate Change), with an Altmetric score of 5715. Researchers from the University of Bern in Switzerland (University of Bern) and the University of Emory (Emory University) in the United States collected data from 732 locations in 43 countries from 1991 to 2018 to investigate the effects of high temperature on human mortality. The study found that 37% of heat-related deaths can be attributed to man-made climate change. The study was mentioned in 865 online news, 69 blog posts and 1286 tweets, covering the Guardian, the New York Times, the Sydney Morning Herald, the Times, the London Evening Standard, the Independent, Bloomberg and the Associated Press.
