There is an intimate link between crime and drug abuse. It is a well-known fact that the rate of drug-related crime is directly proportional to the rate of drug abuse. The relationship between these two statistics is particularly strong in areas where the opioid epidemic is rife. In these areas, drug possession arrests are increasing at a rapid rate. The local jails are overflowing with addicts, proving that crime and addiction are not separate problems.
