Remote Desktop is a technology (software or operating system) that permits its user to connect to any laptop/ computer from a distant location. The user can work on that device normally as if he/she were sitting in front of it. It requires the user to establish a connection from a remote system via the internet and once the connection is successfully established, all the tasks can be performed on the system. The users can perform all functions like managing applications, accessing a file, administrative tasks etc on the computer with which he has established the connection.
