Caroline
He sat there looking at the pond wishing he was not alone. His heart was heavy, and his thoughts were jumbled. He could have asked his daughter, June, to cone along, but she would want to talk, and he simply wished to be alone in his head since what he truly desired was not available. Caroline was dead and there was not any amount of talking or pretending to “properly” cope that would bring her back. Caroline was far from a perfect woman and was frequently self-absorbed, but he loved and missed her any way. He wanted Caroline sitting with him looking at the pond.

The Forest Monitor
It is simply bitter cold. The temperature has been below 0 Degrees Fahrenheit five days in a row, and I am over it. “Where is global warming when you really want it?” I thought to myself as I huddled in my tiny dome room. Today is one of those days I truly regret my decision to become a forest monitor. Most of the time I love the solitude of being a forest monitor, however the winters are absolutely brutal here.

Babies, Babies Everywhere
Everyone was going there. I do not understand why, it does not interest me even a tiny bit, however almost everyone in town decided they needed to be there. Shark Bite
I woke up in the hospital wondering how I got here. There was an oxygen mask on my face and several nurses in the room touching me. I tried to pull the mask off my face and a nurse grabbed my arm and told me to leave it alone. “If you do not quit fighting us, we are going to tie your arms to the bedrails.”

Questions
I woke up and it was there. If it had eyes, it would be staring at me with the same unrelenting gaze I was giving it. “Where did it come from?” I wondered to myself. It was not there when I went to bed last night, I simply do not understand. I tried to ignore it and went into the bathroom to shower and get ready for the day. As I brushed my teeth, questions kept popping into my mind. Who put it on my table? What is in it? Was it left by mistake? What should I do with it? Who was in my room last night while I was sleeping?

Family Traditions

The nine-year-old brushed her teeth and hair and was dressed very quickly. Five minutes after getting out of bed Stacy was bounding down the stairs to the kitchen to see if Momma was there yet.
