Bio
I discovered a love for writing and public speaking. It has always been there, but fear and low self-esteem suppressed who I was.
It suppressed who I wanted to be until I truly met myself, and I am determined never to let that happen again.

Embracing the Unconventional
What does the world need? This was first asked of me when I attended my very first event, an event for leaders in the public sector. I thought about it for a long time and I think, that the world needs a different perspective on each other. I think that we need to shift our way of thinking, seeing beyond labels, and breaking the invisible walls we have built between us.

What if it finds you?
It was in 1999 when we entered our first home in the Netherlands. We had endured a difficult journey, but my mother had endured the hardest. The house was completely silent. On the table in the living room was a beautiful, clear bowl filled with chocolates. I felt welcome and couldn’t take my eyes off the KitKats, Mars, and Twix bars in the bowl. I thought to myself, what a cozy and warm house. I thought to myself, this is love.

Lessons beyond the classroom
"Shall we get started now?" We were sitting in a circle around the large table in the classroom, just like every other morning on a school day. My classmates hated it when I asked that question. They preferred to spend another hour listening to the teacher's life stories. Not because they saw any value in it, but because they didn’t want to get to work. And me? I had spent my entire life doing nothing but burying myself in schoolwork.
