New year, new me, right? Here we are, five days in, and I’m already starting to feel the pressure. Everyone’s talking about their resolutions—gym, career, self-improvement—and I can’t help but wonder, Have I started the gym yet? Of course, I haven’t. It’s this constant pressure we put on ourselves to transform overnight, as if January 1st holds some kind of magical power. But why do we do that? Why do we think we’re going to go from 0 to 100 just because the calendar flipped?

Stop Being Too Available
Let them miss you. Stop being readily available. It may seem like the right thing to do, especially because we’re used to being constantly connected. But making space is powerful, and sometimes that means rejecting every invitation or not immediately responding to every communication.

Did 2023 Ruin Us All?
It’s December. We are now in the month of reflection and follow-up on our New Year’s resolutions. I held onto a wish for my aunt’s cancer recovery while spending New Year’s in Scotland last year. Sadly, she left us after only five months in, leaving me with a persistent pain in my heart. Grief is a lingering companion, isn’t it?

Monday Mornings
Happy Monday, Today didn’t begin the way I had hoped. I felt terribly ill and out of breath when I woke up, which was very different from how I usually start my Mondays. I had to decide to call in sick to work despite how much I wanted to push through. I was so consumed with remorse and the sense of having let everyone down that I was unable to move past it.

The sun sets a little earlier, and the air has a slight chill that heralds the arrival of crisp days. The return of the pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks, however, is something else that genuinely catches my heart during this season, beyond the drop in temperature and the changing of the leaves.
