Leveraging Data Science to Tackle Socioeconomic Disparities in Mumbai
Introduction
Widely understood as ‘the financial capital of India’, Mumbai is characterized by fervent growth which blends conspicuous skyscrapers with cramped shanty towns. Such inequality signifies social imbalance in Mumbai, where people have different rights for colored resources, shelter, food, clothes, education, health, and colored jobs. It has only been through the application of data science that these disparities can now be measured and estimated to inform policy and closure of the gap. As data science can deliver decision-supporting insights, the opportunity to initiate drastic changes across fields such as healthcare, education, housing, and employment is opening up.
