Stephen Kramer Avitabile
Bio
I'm a creative writer in the way that I write. I hold the pen in this unique and creative way you've never seen. The content which I write... well, it's still to be determined if that's any good.

Master List of Publications. Top Story - August 2023.
I’ve been submitting fiction to publications for about two years now and it has been a process that just keeps developing. In the beginning, I wasn’t sure where to start. I found a small list of 10 or so publications online and started with those. Over time I have found more lists in various places that people have compiled. Usually lists of 10-20 publications. I’ll find an odd one here or there… I’ve gotten recommendations from other writers on Vocal… on Medium… and I have now compiled my own list of 85 publications that I have submitted to or plan to submit to. (Thank you to ALL who have provided me with places!)

Why the Birds Don't Have Arms
It’s been wondered aloud by many a human, why is it that birds don’t have arms? Why is it that they have wings instead? There is a lot that goes into the ‘why’ and birds did used to have arms a long time ago. But it is most curious that humans always wonder this… as they are the reason birds do not have arms.

I Have My Dogs To Thank For My Writing Career
Alert! This is Stephen Avitabile… not Stephen King. So, when I refer to my ‘writing career’ it’s a work in progress. Not a spectacle. But I do feel I am heading in the right direction. Things feel as if they have begun to take off. It’s nothing major, but at the time of writing this, I have had three stories accepted into two publications. In submitting to various other publications and contests I have moved on to second rounds in judging multiple times… so things are moving along.

Serving Up Tea
January 24th, 1924 - The wooden walls were rough and uneven. The ceiling was low. All sorts of odors lingered in the room from the night before. One young man swept up a pile of debris over in the corner. Gloomy, pale light struggled to enter the dark establishment through several foggy windows.

The Life Of Ginger. Top Story - June 2023.
Ginger was a Minpin… but almost nobody knew she was a Minpin just by looking at her. She was all tan (ginger-colored hair) which happens with Minpins but seems to be seldom that it happens. She had her tail snipped a bit too short and she had big ears, people often commented how she looked like a little deer. They’d ask if she was a chihuahua, some type of terrier, some type of mix. Nope, Ginger is a Minpin.

Coach's Son
I struggled with addiction as a kid… that’s right… TV. I couldn’t get enough of it. Still haven’t really kicked the habit. But because of this, I saw all the TV shows. I saw all the families. I saw all the TV dads. I saw all the talks… dad to son… dad to daughter… dad to Arnold and Willis Drummond… who, of course, became Mr. Drummond’s legal sons once they took on his last name.

Stealing Power
Stealing money was good and fine. Stealing power though, that's where it was at. Why did the owner of The Drill Museum get whatever he wanted? Power. Power through threat. Threat... from secrets. Secrets of politicians in the form of proof... hidden... keeping governors and senators and congressmen in his pocket.

Is Pink The 10th Color?
I always wondered if that basic starter pack of general crayons got it right. You know, the 10-pack? Not the 32-pack. Not the big 64-pack that blew your adolescent mind when it came out. And not the pack that had over 100 crayons. 15 different shades of green. An orange-red and a red-orange which were apparently quite different.
